That limited-slip diff is good stuff - wish I had that here Smoke.

Imagine if Lambeau Field was filled with dirt, and had roads going over the top - that is what a hill looks like here.
(To see an actual hill, I think you'd have to travel further west, to Wyoming..)

Driving up my hill to my previous house, it was so steep I couldn't see over the hood of my truck. And it was a hairpin turn.....

Well I'm back from the hunting trip. Had a good trip, it was fun being with my son and brother in law for the week. We saw some big deer but no shots were taken. Its tough to get it done with the bow. Ohio is a beautiful state and all you folks from there are lucky. It certainly is a hilly state. especially the Hocking hills. The other thing that's certain is its getting harder for me to navigate those hills. I tried to explain to my brother in law that Ohio is getting bigger. He thought perhaps I had gotten bigger. Maybe your out of shape he said. Round is a shape I said. Great he said, roll up that hill then and stop making so much noise when your breathing or are you gaging on your breakfast bar. I may have to lose a few dozen pounds before next years hunt.

    It was nice to catch up on the forum today and I can say a few things;
Sorry Imac I loved my Rogue. It was a 4 cyl. good on gas AWD and with good tires (Cooper CS3 touring) never had an issue with s**w. It had a diff.lock that could be activated if you had to get through some deep stuff or up a steep driveway. Of course not as good as a 4WD, but almost everything is a compromise. Change the CVT fluid and it should be OK. We have a new Subaru Crosstrek and after putting some seat time on it ( its the wifeys car) its OK but I still liked the rogue more. I may like the new Outback more because of the size, but she wanted smaller. I do however like the eyesight feature when on the highway.

I like the Cooper AT3 tires for the price, I think they are the next tire for my Silverado. We mount and balance a lot of Coopers. The HT is also a good tire and the Zeon is nice but for the money the Michelins are right there. If ya gotta go in s**w and mud on dirt roads the Maxx tire is hard to beat.

bogieg congrats on the new ride. You should be fine in the s**w. Bigger tire and 4WD.

Jay, your a Ford guy, the escape or an Edge out of your range?

    Doggy

Yes, Both are more than I wanna spend. Its only a back and forth work ride. Trying to stay in the 18K range or below. I can almost get a brand new subbie for that. I see a few of the year old low mileage Escapes with the 1.6L ecoboost, But I'd rather the 2.0L. For some reason those add too much $$$ and out price them.

Still not crossing out the Rogue, But the little Impresa should be enough. I hope!

Yeah, when I was a flatlander (born & raised in Kansas, moved to NH in '87) I didn't even know anyone that had 4WD and I did just fine with RWD vehicles. Just the hills make it going difficult around here.

Plus, back then I lived right at the edge of the city so getting to work was a couple of miles that I could walk if I needed. Here, I'm in the country and it is 30 miles to work - which I ain't walking. And there have been jobs that I drove 55 miles to work. I don't worry so much about me, but watching out and staying out of the way of all the other idiots on the road.

The hill that I start up, directly off my street rises 600' in 2 miles. A lot of people get stuck on that hill and foul it up for the rest of us.

You mean the ones that end up sideways in the median? They got the go part down, Its the stopping and turning that gets em!!

Got one thats about a 30° incline. Once a few flakes fall. Its a guarantee someone not gonna make it. Sometimes its me! :emb:

Don't usually bother trying that one with the FWD anymore. Usually go a street over and hit the more gradual hill. Cut back over once I get to the top. Going down in the icy stuff is also really fun. Usually stay close to the curb and less of a jolt when ya hit it!! o_O The turn on the bottom is also loads of fun, Or a trip into the ditch!! Good thing my neighbor drives a wrecker...............

Pretty nice day today. I brought in the hoses, blew out the water line to the outdoor spigot, raked a few leaves away from the house, then got the sn*w thrower running and ready for whatever may come. Fired up the generator and let that run for a bit also.

Now it's time for a beer. :drunk:

That happens so often. Usually someone who is too cheap to run some decent tires and has no business being out in weather they don't know how to drive in.

Colorado just passed a traction law. Fines for bald tires.
