HD in Rochester had Fireside, Chow, Nations Choice and Inferno out back.

    Inside, pricing was

Inferno 5.98 bag-the sign said "premium softwood" yet they are a blend
    Fireside 5.19 bag

    :loco:

True. Even though my Honda has on demand AWD when in Drive, it can be put into awd for 1st or 2nd gear start off with the push of a button. Shifter has to be in D1 or D2 and will come out of awd at 15MPH

+1, Excellent tires, especially in the snow - have those on the '00 Kia Sportage 4x4 here.

Thanks for that info - I know little about automatics (I did have a couple in the 80's), and nothing about 4WD automatics, so this will be a whole new experience this winter. I'll take any wisdom you can throw at me.

Will disengaging the overdrive allow for engine breaking? Or that just for towing?

Unlike most involved in this thread, I drive a 2wd pick up. I run Discoverer A/T 3's with a few hundred pounds in the bed with the limited slip diff I've never had a problem.

No, you can use that to your advantage in winter weather also - have done that a few times here with the Taurus last winter.

Only when absolutely necessary. 4wd out here does not help with slipping or sliding while driving, only getting going and going uphill......

Most of my issues is the hills, The FWD goes down OK, Its to going back up that stinks........

If I was a flat lander, I could live with 2wd too. And maybe a bit more ground clearance for the deeper s**w.

Nothing but hills here. One of the worse is the one we live on. Running all seasons on a front wheeled drive. Still have the pick up 4 WD if needed. But we don't even attempt going anywhere if the driving is questionable.

Never had a problem here when in had just front wheel drive. I did have to go up a side street in reverse once to get up. My Jeep is so good you don't even know there is snow on the ground. Unless that is you want to stop.

Just imagine a certain type of "mounds" and relate that to the road :p

I got tired of front wheel drive making it half way up the driveway while it was snowing-along came AWD and the rest is history
