I'm a graduate of the Statler Tissue mill in Augusta that closed back in the early '90's.

Well my new burn pot made it, just need to do a test burn to make sure the stove still works and I'm fairly well set for winter.

I had a very invasive bridal wreath bush (spirea) that I tried over and over to get rid of. finally, I pruned it to the ground, put ground cover cloth over the whole area, then put 4 inches of cedar mulch on top of that. It's now gone!

Yeah, sometimes you just have to get 'radical' on old, invasive growth.

Nice weather outside here today, very productive outside: gentleman who runs the town's recycling center (aka "town dump") stopped by to pickup the last wood pile we had at the back corner of the driveway / tree line, to burn in the camp stove down there. It wasn't much, about 1/3 cord, but it was a mix of red oak, maple, and some hickory, he seemed happy to take it. Kinda nostalgic to see it go - lots of fond memories burning wood, and even processing (when I was a younger man), but onward & upward, w/ pellets now.

Was nice to get that space back: got that area cleaned up, brush cut and mowed about 1/2 acre of tree line and lawn, still got about another acre to do. Looked overhead, lot's of shade branches overhanging the driveway, did some major pruning on the smaller branches, still some more to do. The power steering hose repair on the 4x4 went well, so am able to move the suv around & get to what needs to be done now. Hoping to have more space for snow plowing - this past winter the driveway here was tight, spent way too much time cutting down & snow blowing plow banks to keep the driveway clear. ( I'd rather be roasting pellets vs. snow blowing.)

Hey did you know that with a fire in the stove it can get warm in the stove room? Having my morning mug of coffee doing the test burn.

Right, sure, that beast of yours doesn't get any heat in the stove room, it all makes up to the upper level. It just doesn't get as warm n your stove room. At least KC didn't panic when it lit off and when the convection fan turned on. I was more concerned about her reaction than whether the stove would start up or not.

Haven't put the new burn pot in, at least it looks like the dense gasket around and under the lip of the burn pot is no longer needed as this version of the pot doesn't have an upper row of holes in it.

If I had a wood burner I might be tempted to take it down - need to get a bigger chainsaw though. Of course my luck I would bring it down on the only place I wouldn't want it - on top of my house:eek:

Me too. I got up at 5 Am. The dog wanted out. So left the wife and cats back on the bed and had a nice peaceful cup of coffee with the fire going and my dogs keeping me company.
