It's tongue and groove easy to cut with a utility knife it's a floating floor had enough left over from the Man Cave project I used it in a bathroom too.

IMO I would say tiles ,you have to work the planks a bit to get them to snap into place ,it's not hard ,but not as EZ as they show in the video :headbang: I've used peel and stick vinyl tiles before , I like the planks much better .

I used peel-n-stick tiles to cover the nasty bathroom floor that was in my house when I bought it. Didn't have the cash to redo the bath at that time. In hindsight, I should have saved the $30 I spent on the peel and stick tiles, as it was more like peel, stick, then watch them peel up over time.

I didn't know there was such a thing as vinyl plank flooring. I'll keep that in mind for the future.

Thanks, I was VERY tempted but will refrain. I put those in a 3' x 5' entryway in a mobile home in 1991. They were great at the time but we sold it in 1993 so I have no idea if the started to slide or peel up etc.

It still boggles my mind that click/interlock can be waterproof?

I think waterproof might not be the right term ,I think what they are saying is it can get wet and not be damaged unlike a wood product ,thus prefect for bathrooms & basements .

Nice day today, so for a change, we went for a ride up to Rangeley Lake. A bit overcast in the mountain areas, but otherwise a nice trip. First time out this year for a day trip.

We tore out all of our old vinyl flooring and carpet in the kitchen/liv room and hall, when we bought this place... and had the floating laminate floor installed that looks like wide pine boards. It was recommended to us by a log home builder in Belgrade. They recommend it to customers who want the softwood floors. This stuff is a lot tougher. It is not waterproof. You can spill water on it and clean it right up quickly and get away with it. You couldn't have a tub overflow for instance, and expect that it wouldn't get into the joints a little. Ours looks like this... made by Dupont

All good info here. I have 21 year old wall to wall carpet that really needs to go. I would not want to see what comes out of this carpet

Since the roof needs to be done, that comes first before winter. Looking at the garage and front, I thought I had anther 3-5 years on the roof but the back half of the main house took a beating this past winter. I may need to have the back half decking replaced as the wavy look isnt from lifting of shingles. Its from lifting of the decking and it wonr be known for sure until the shingles are stripped and see if there is 1/2" or 5/8" decking. If 1/2" it has to be replaced. The front and garage have more itch so if 1/2, it looks like that is holding up just fine.

Anyway for now I am doing the main house and leaving the garage til later. Its a 7200-8600 expense (depending on the decking) I was not planning on just yet. :headbang:

Luckily I have someone I really trust to do the work and do it right while not over charging me. In fact, he did temp repairs to the the leaking area and 2 other suspect areas at no charge. He doesn't do many roofs anymore ( he is getting older like the rest of us) but since this one isnt that large or high he is doing this one.

How was the ride? Its for a great cause and one that for those of us that are not afflicted with the that deep a depression dont understand it.

That poster makes me think if the final scene in Sons of Anarchy-I know its not the same, but it does.

You really don't want to know. You might get ill. My carpets are all gone. Now only area carpets that I can toss out easily. I have a lot of pets. Mostly well behaved, but the fur issue is unreal. I want to get the dogs groomed but I can't find the rabies certificates. Still not resettled from our move downstairs.

Cool picture I ran across earlier today. This was in 1960 at a JFK rally in downtown Grand Rapids, MI.

I had to call my mom and ask where it was as I didn't recognize anything in the picture. Lots of 'urban renewal' occurred between then and my first memories of that area. Turns out she was there that day. She was a senior in high school and they let them walk a few blocks down to where he was.
