I bought this today, should be here in a couple days. The ashvac I have been borrowing has been being used alot lately, and I am overdue. I think this one will be better for me, its lighter and smaller.

That is a nice sized unit with good power.

Make sure you use a Filtration bag (Drywall) at the minimum. I upgraded the air filter to a HEPA filter in mine.

With the standard filter and no bag, you will just be spitting ash out of the exhaust and into your home.

Pic to show you the bag. All the nasties stay in the bag and keep the interior of the shop vac clean (and the air in your home).

Bought studs and electrical supplies for the do over today. Darn, it all adds up fast. Nailing it down more every day. I'll be glad when I get sent out to buy paint! Our deliveries didn't come today as promised. Onc forgot to call us and tell us they rescheduled. It is ok because we are not ready for it yet. Lowes called to say they were delaying their delivery. Still waiting for the floor tiles to come in. I prefer to wait because I don't want to have to carry 60 cases of tiles home.

The cream colored one in that pic is the bag.

Been using them for seven years. I let the stove cool plenty long enough. Heck, I only clean them once or twice a year anyway. :) My Enerzone has ash that is 10" above the top of the ash pan.

And "hot" ashes are not acceptable for any Ash Vac. All stoves should be let to cool. IMO

Thanks! I bought an extra 3 pack of the cream colored ones. Shopping for the hepa insert, Stinny recommended the same thing.

Still up in the air about that. Once the cabines are in place, we will have to make up our minds. A lot depends on how much we lay out for essential in this do over. We didn't budget for a total gut when this started. But, here we are! Everything will be new, floor to ceiling. Big stuff except for the countertops are paid for. Now there is the labor for the reconstruction. Wish I could help.

I gotta ask, what is a whistle pig? I'm figuring some type of critter based off the trap and dispatcher, but that's a term this upper Midwesterner hasn't heard in his 40 years on earth.

Gotcha. We call them little turds groundhogs here.

I caught one a month or so back that was digging under the concrete slab of my pole barn. Looked to be well fed.

Lead poisoning is about the only real control over those rodents. They will clean out a back yard garden in one day if left undisturbed.
That having been said, I once observed two of my dogs trap a groundhog. When they got hold of it, they stretched it out in a pulling contest. It was over in seconds.

I didn't even think of that. Shows you that my brain is toast after today.

Apparently it's also whiskey. Hmm..... :)
