We have had 2 storms so far, Both were merely coatings and didn't last once the sun come up. Did need to sand the walkway and the town spread some stuff on the roadway. Just enough to make a mess!!

    Hello all.

I feel bad i only come in when i have a question, BUT...

I think (hope?) i know what the problem is, (cheap t-couple is junk) but i thought i'd run it by everyone to see if anyone has seen this before.

So, i bought a spare thermocouple to have on hand this year, and i got it off of Amazon.
Got the yellow light tody and installed the new spare.
Stove recognized it was there, and filled the pot.

Only thing is it didn't then give the signal to the control box to continue once it was hot.
I've ordered a new one from a place i've used before, and i expect it will work, as the stove was working fine before the yellow light today.

I thought maybe i didn't have far enough over the pot, but after moving it out a bit, still no go.

Happy thanksgiving to everyone, and i hope you are all well and happy.

Could be reverse polarity, i'm reading.

I assumed this would not be the case since i didn't get the earthsense one.
But i'm going to try just swapping the wires.

Glad you got that figured out. Seems a lot of stuff is reverse polarity nowadays. I say "a lot" only because I never used to hear of this issue and now I hear it on a regular basis in the solar world. If a replacement (and/or off-brand) isn't working electrically, then the first thing to check is polarity.

    Thanks.

It's so disheartening having to turn the forced air oil on.

I don't really know at this point.
We had 100 gallons in the tank, and maybe two years back we got another 100 just to have a nice back up on hand.

$3.39 /gal seems to be what's stuck in my head.
If we had baseboad oil, it would be a lot nicer.
Even the short time i had the oil on yesterday had me missing the steady heat the stove gives.
Ours really is just emergency use if we need a part for the stove we don't have.
But i have pretty much everything except a control box on hand.
Snap discs would also need to be ordered.
It would be nice if both those items never failed. So far so good.

Room air blower was making noises a couple of years ago, but has settled down.
I do have a spare on hand though as well.

Using the zip code from my last house in NY, COD Oil is quoting $3.39 up to 300 Gal.

Geez even. Luckily my nearest is still at $2.83/gallon as long as I order 150 gallons.

So that's $849 for 300 gallons compared to the $1026(with delivery) we just paid for 3 tons pellets. (100 gallons = approx 1 ton of pellets). Pellets aren't the bargain they used to be! Meh!!
