You can find some small metal trash cans with lids and even handles. Get a couple and you will eliminate the wait issue. I have mine set outside on cement or ground and wait about a week before dumping them.

Got s bit of nice weather after weeks and weeks of RAIN
We did our second shell tun yesterday.
Unloaded and got the shells all barreled up.
Sadly the next run will likely be in Mid January DEPENDING on the weather and how hard we need to tun the stoves.....
Then late March ....also depending on the weather.

Big crop this year....Plenty of shells.
We switched to unloading inside of the hay barn (Where we store the barreled shells) As long as we can grab a load and get home and inside while it's not raining we're golden..

Indoors is out of the wind and any rain that happens along....Big overhead lights makes it nice too.....

Today we were both tired after the unload.....Decided to wait until tomorrow to break down the outfit ....

Feels real good to have another full load in the books

:picard: Lots of difficulty lighting the pellet stove tonight. Guess the igniter died and these darn pellets won't light. Sterno gel, rubbing alcohol, and now zippo lighter fluid. :headbang:

I have one of those. I just don't trust it in the high winds we had at the time. My driveway is where the wind funnels in and then slams against the garage door so there is swirling action also.

All is good, I received about 2.75" of rain between the systems on Saturday and Sunday. I got the P61a cleaned on Monday, dumping that in the yard (not in the leaves of the tree line where I would normally dump them), then got another 1/2" of rain Monday night.

Peace Rose's usually have yellow mixed in with the pinks and whites. Also, I think the petal shape is a bit different with a somewhat pointed tip (rounded, but still a point), where Jake's rose has very round petals.

The cluster of petals in the middle hearken back to an old English rose (although I don't think it is - but I'm not an expert so that is worth exactly 2 cents), whereas again, the Peace Rose has "sharper" edges and not nearly that petal count.

    I have fire!

Turned it off to avoid the "empty" error beep, curled up in comforter on the couch since I have a portable oil radiator in here on high. Couldn't sleep with cold face and too warm body. Jumped on the old floor joists to jostle the pellets I'd tried to break earlier with the burn pot scraper in the hopper but still did not feed. It worked!! Almost 70* again in just a few minutes. Love this stove.

Happy Thanksgiving All. Don’t check in too often now that I don’t burn anymore. But I miss the daily banter of this thread. Hope you are all doing well. Enjoy the day and the burning season!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. We're doing our dinner tomorrow as youngest son is in Lovell, ME and his girlfriend is in Conway, NH so they didn't want to travel down here in the storm.

37* and just some very light rain here in SE NH now.

I only had to go 10 miles. We left home in the rain and returned when it was just turning to snow and before total darkness. This was only my third time out with this new van. I would have liked to have stayed longer and enjoyed the company but the risks were too much. My daughter drove back from Bangor. The speed was way down the whole length. Many folks are without power today. CMP is out working on the lines but that takes a while. We have a new stand-by generator so not worried about it. I am doing all my black Friday shopping online.

Interesting, do hardwood pellets leave little coals in the ash pan? I have mostly soft wood out here and unless the stove is overdue for a cleaning our ashpan is fluff, ready to dump as soon as the ashpan cools down enough to touch.

Also, Not Recommened, Professionals only! I had a major malfunction with my first Eco65 (late on a super cold night, husband out of town, whiteout outside), ended up pouring a gallon of water in a rubbermade tote and emptying the hot pellets ashpan into it. It was stinky but atleast the ashpan fire was put out and I didn't have to worry about embers when I was able to dump it.....
Guessing SmokeyTheBear remember that night lol.

I've been burning HW/SW mix. AFAIR, any pellets still have the potential to leave live sparks after the stove cools down. And, with a huge ashpan, there is a lot of insulation to keep them live a long time (it's amazing how long they can stay alive). Several brush fires were started here in NH over the last couple of weeks from people cleaning out their wood stoves and pellet stoves while believing that the ashes were completely cold.

I tend to be extremely cautions in dry times. The leaf litter will shed rain really well, so even after a fair amount of rain, the lower portions will still be dry and a spark is all it takes - especially if there is a bit of wind.

They finally dropped the red flag warning in our area. We are able to burn outdoors again. I missed my fire pit and with all the wind we've had there was plenty of sticks and branches to clean up. It was soo dry I waited to do my final round of leaves(until we got some heavy rain) for fear of a spark catching them a blaze.

I always fear of a spark hitting my shop vac so I brush everything into the ash pan and carefully dump it into a metal barrel. I'll then let the stove sit for as long as possible, before I vacuum it out. The metal barrel sits on the basements concrete floor, The barrel has an air tight metal lid and I still worry. So I don't dump that into the garden/lawn for many weeks to be sure its cool.
