Pellet heads!! What's up today?

5* so far this morning. Still has 4 hours to drop more. But, not as chilly as a lot of other places, so I can't complain.

Raised the set temp for the P61a last night and just now changed the P43 over to constant burn (at a low feed rate). The P43 was only "resting" for a few minutes between shut down and start up. Prior to that I ran the boiler for about 10 minutes to circulate warm water thru the FHW pipes.

Brought in about 12 bags of the SNW Doug fir pellets last weekend knowing it'd be colder than usual this week. And with the lows at night the next couple days in the single digits will probably run constant burn. The DF's do throw out some good heat.

You do know that logic doesn't work. There are always more that become weak and ready to be torn down. The only real protection is your geni. As long as lines are above ground, they will be subject to being taken down. I have lines that can be taken out by trees, but the big trees that could damage my house have been removed. I also had the trees limbed but still get falling junk. esp. the oaks. I don't want the grandkids playing under the trees unless they have been inspected and trimmed

 

My stove is down for repair. Going to be another week before they come. Bad time for this to happen, but we are not cold in here, not at all. The gas furnace and mini-split keep us comfortable. Fairly well-insulated house. Double entrances.

 

Back up options are great, glad you are warm!

 

Funny thing - This morning it is 7*, and the P43 is resting about 45 minutes between the time it is actually off and the restart time. I didn't think we had much wind yesterday morning, but apparently enough to make a difference in heating requirements (still same pellets - GS)

Old Lopi Yankee in the basement has been consuming 2+ bags a day throwing some serious heat. Up until recently it's been on low collecting creosote, so running hot has turned everything a nice white ash now.

It sure can chew up pellets but man it blows some serious heat without even trying, that's with plenty left on the dial to go. Course it's built (and weighs) like a tank so not surprising, can't imagine how hot it would be if it was full tilt.

Enviro Mini is been on #2 out of 5 setting 24/7 just poking along on low, keeping the chill from the addition and eating something shy of 1 per day. It's usually off overnight but too chilly for that lately.

Better than the sub zero we usually have this time of year, and a break is coming up so no use in complaining.

Yesterday we got above freezing for the first time in 8 days...
10F was the lowest we had.....Cold for us.....
We are in need of a shell run.

Not out by any means.....But we can hold 20 barrels to filler up.....

44F this morning....East wind is finally gone (Cold air flows down the Columbia river gorge and into Western Oregon)

Then the warm wet systems blow in and we get Freeeeeeeeeeeeeeezing rain....OMG I hate that stuff
