Enjoyed the warmth we the last weekend, Actually got to shut the stove down for almost 48 hours. Back to reality using about a bag and a half per day again. At least the sun is out and the winds are calm(for now).

Looks like the northern folks might see some white stove starting tonight into tomorrow. Supposed to get just rain my way, But we shall see.

Still haven't purchased pellets or oil. Looks to be a wash either way(besides my labor). I saw $3.30 on oil and almost bit, but it jumped back up to $3.47 again. Riding the pellets in the kitty until I see oil at $3.20 and/or pellets around $325/ton. Just a bit over a ton left before I must no matter the price!!

Darn diet got almost 20 pounds off. Likely why I get chilled so quick!

Hard to tell we even brought the attic up to R60. These R15 walls don't help much nor the stone and slab down in the bunker. Windows aint the greatest neither!! :makeitrain"

It's 35* and it has been snowing hard enough that there is accumulation of about 2". It's warmer now than it was all day yesterday; the low was 19* and the high didn't happen until late evening. At 11:59 pm it rose to 33*. Although technically I am in the 2-4" range for snow, I'm real close to the 4-8" line on the map, so we'll wait and see what actually happens.

    upload_2023-11-22_1-43-17.png

And, joy of joys, it is supposed to turn to a mix, then rain - heavy at times later this morning - so it will be a real mess. The top layer of the ground is frozen, so it may all run off and just make everything icy.

Still using the mini split for the main floor while using pellets to keep the basement warm. I have plenty of credit with the power company from the solar I pushed back to the grid, so might as well use the "free" electricity for heating the living area. I have been using the P43 to give the house a jolt of warmth for when I get out of the shower. This weekend it is supposed to get down to the mid teens at night so I may run the P43 more then. It really depends on how the house "feels".

UPDATE 1 hour and 15 minutes later: I now have 4" of snow and getting "grapple". Still at 35* out.

Luckily we only got about an inch or so before turning to rain. Just enough to be a PITA. Sn*w blower and shovels still in the shed cause we weren't supposed to get nada.

I was worried some of the white stuff was going to stick around. but the rain luckily has all but a few spots melted away!! :D

Had to dig out the winta boots to take the puppers for walkies. He luv's the white stuff, Hard to keep him calm and he wanted to play. Hopefully by January he'll be done with this med routine and can play like a puppy again!!

Got about 5" before the changeover to heavy rain around 5:30 am. A lot has washed away but still white wet chit everywhere. Should melt off though.

Don't kow what the final tally was, but even with rain, temp getting up to low 40's and only falling to 39 overnight, everything still has a couple of inches of snow cover. I went out about 2:00 yesterday afternoon and scraped all the snow off the truck and shoveled the driveway as well as the front door steps. . That was some heavy, wet chit. Glad I did because I can see the car across the street is still covered this morning.

If we get some sun today, I'll move the truck so the driveway can dry out. I also need to clear the ramp to the shed and in front of both fence gates. Not going to be doing any paths though. The stuff will either eventually melt, or make a decent base for the next storm.
