Pellet heads!! What's up today?

Got a serious deal on a tool chest set at HD. $548, on sale for $348, and then cut to $248. Best I can tell is they discontinued the color as the red and black skews were $348.

 

Just a minor flesh wound, (or three, or four...)

I got all the hangars off today, after the first bolt wouldn't even think about budging and the head rounded off, I brought out my sawzall and grinder with a zip disc.

I'll just line up the new ones where they go with the ground off bolts and fill the bracket holes with weld. The originals lasted 11 years of NE salt, can't complain too much (maybe a little )

 

More problems.

 

Never heard of those. Not surprising as my little corner of the world doesn't get a lot of variety of pellets.

** Cord wood here is about 250 a seasoned cord. Some a bit more some a bit less. Just am getting to old to deal with stacking hauling etc... .

 

Summer is over.....We have had much cooler weather the past several days.....And plenty of RAIN
As of this morning....3.30" of rain this month.....
Glad to see the early fall rains getting with the program.....

Been running the little Whitfield P2 pretty much 24 hrs the past couple days.....

Gonna be time to get shells real soon....

 

Ditto. Spring is my fav season.....everything greening up, temps warming up, low humidity.

And now for today's project....the grass is getting mowed lower than normal, double aerated, and over seeded with nice 0% weed fescue seed. Fertilizer should have gone on 1st, but the timing didn't work out....that will be next week.

 

Fall allergies have hit me hard this year. And the allergy med really makes me drowsy, it's supposed to be non-drowsy.

What a long day... got hammered with rain in Springfield,ma. Was supposed to do a boat whale watching thing in Boston today, but was worried with the weather and it would turn over Boston area.

Wife wanted to see Salem and it sounded fun, the weather looked more promising there anyway. Off we went, traffic was slower at times with the rain but still made it in 2 hours. No rain the 4 hours there and it wasn't amazing, but still nice to see everything and the history.

Travel back was a chit show, took 4 hours to get back. I'm convinced most people in ma and ct can't drive 91 is always nutz, so many wanna be race car drivers.

Still enjoyed, as always on the east coast. It's alot like Michigan. Kinda a home away from home.

 

Somehow I never understood using fescue as a lawn grass. It isn't pretty although it is tough. I prefer Kentucky Bluegrass (not just plain bluegrass - that is a weed). If given a good start and kept at 3" or over, it will do a good job of crowding out most weeds. It feels soft and is a really nice green. I put down KB sod where the raised vegetable beds were a couple of years ago and you can still distinctly see where it is versus where the rest of the lawn/weeds are. I didn't even do anything special for that sod, just kept it watered for several weeks.

If I were more invested in my lawn, I would take up the whole thing , give it some decent soil and seed it over with KB. If I had bunches of money, instead of seed I would do KB sod over the whole thing. But, I don't water (except specific areas) and don't even own a sprinkler (all watering done by hand) so that ain't going to happen unless I get rich and can hire a groundkeeping crew

 

I feed my lawn four times a year. It makes a huge difference. I get some people don't want chemicals on the grass because of kids or pets, but at the very least you should put down lime twice a year. Lime treats the soil, and you will notice the difference.

 

Last fall, I used Pennington "The Rebel" fescue (available at the big box stores). It comes coated with fertilizer, and because of that you don't get as many seeds per lb., but the results last spring were spectacular.

This year, my NASCAR friend, (who also moonlights doing landscaping) suggested a brand from the big landscaping place here (SiteOne Landscaping....huge place). Lesco, INC from Ohio. 0% weed seed, and he said he's used it before with good results.....we'll see.
