Standing seam roof is great - a bit pricey compared to metal shingles unless the prices have come down in the last 9 years. But to me worth it. Of course it didn't help my case that there were already 2 layers of shingles that had to come off (if you only have 1 layer, you may be able to just lay the standing seam over it).

Make sure they give you the price for 24 gauge, although there are reasons you may want to go with 26. Also talk to the consultant about where you may want snow fall protection (above doorways or garage). I didn't put any on my roof, but I also have a 3' overhang so the snow crashing down is not such a big concern (plus, I don' t have little ones that might get hurt by it.

You probably already thought of that stuff already though.

Ordered a new 50 pint dehumidifier with auto drain for the basement. No one local had an auto drain in stock! Pick it up Saturday. Using the furnace fan to cycle the cooler air upstairs has raised it to above 80%!! Switched off the fan and turned on the rest of the window a/c units for now. Also going to get a 8K unit for the wreck room. The little 5K isn't cutting it.

Was holding the funds in the mini split/heatpump account. But I can't stand it anymore so!! :makeitrain"

Brodie and I took a morning walkie(cause we fatsooo's) And couldn't get the 1/2 mile in before me was too winded to continue. He was panting as well. Back to the a/c for us!!

    Nap time! :D

Ah, that will be cool - new roof and solar . IMO Standing seam is the best roof for solar since they don't have to drill holes. And, of course, green is the best color in a metal roof :D

I wait to turn my mini split to dehumidify until the inside humidity gets to over 70%. I know in years past this place must have gotten up to 80% (before I had any AC at all), but can't imagine that now - it has got to be miserable.

Window a/c units dropped it some. I was hoping the hybrid water heater would drop the basement humidity more than it is.

Nah, I'll take the blame for this one. Wifey knows I can't take the heat anymore! Can't image how he feels wearing the fur coat! He certainly enjoys the a/c! He wasn't playing as much, But back to his normal silliness now! :D

Seal up your basement plenty of moisture in that kind of basement JT.

That would be the best for energy efficiency, but not so great for sn*w melting in the winter.

Short of a vapor barrier, I've done loads of chit to keep water out. And control what goes in to get it out quickly. With the new tractor I've pitched the grade, added gravel and sloped every thing away for better drainage. extended the down spots from the gutters to get water away from the foundation too. Added a channel and drain pipe to get water out of a low spot and get it away before it can get into the basement. Lowered my pump run time lots and lots(AKA more betterer).

I literally get ground water seeping up from the ground into the basement. Added a channel in the low spot and moving the water to the sump area has done lots(again also known as more betterer). The only standing water is in the sump where da pump is at. Once in a blue moon I get a weeper from the area we call the catio, But unless I dig up the concreate, I can't do to much but to get it steered to the pump/sump.

I'm sure I missed some of the do dads I've done as there have been so many! But there is no more pond in the bunker is all I know! Hope to get my dehumid thingy do today! Already wired a dedicated outlet for it and have the hose set up to the drain.

Dehumidifier is in the bunker and working. About an hour after hook up it dropped it 10% to 70. Hopefully drops to 40 quickly and starts to cycle, She be going full bore at the moment! Can't wait to see our electric bill next month!
