Haven't been on here much lately. Seriously busy with work and building the engine building at the zagray farm museum. Winter held a couple of long awaited vacations postponed by COVID stuff. Then off to the hospital with pneumonia. 3 day stay at med then lots of antibiotics. Good now! Yay!_

Just about done with spring stock up, about 1200 skids and a few more coming. Split with my business partner of 38 years and turned over 1/2 of the business to my son. Maybe I'll slow up a little, lol.

This year has been cooler than several June's of the past....2021 saw 109F arrrrrgh...
So far this year we are at 87F for the highest temp
We might see a bit higher temps before the end of the month.

The nice cool weather of a few days ago was welcome.....Some rain and the stove running a bit was a treat.

Far better than 109F of the June of 21

Rain Rain and more Rain. Only a few days this month that it hasn't rained. The only good thing about it is that the fire hazard is low and bad for the brown-tailed moths. The extended forecast has rain predicted nearly every day for the next week.

You can send us down a little. Besides a thunder boomer here and there, we've been fairly dry.

Finally getting some long awaited work done on the Front end for the Snow Cat.

The front fenders, hood and core support (Held the original radiator and is the front bulkhead to fasten the fenders, grille and such....Also fastening point of the assembly to the frame with two rubber biscuits)

The plan is to cut the fenders on an angle and make the assembly tilt forwards to allow easy access to the engine.

The front components off the S10 Blazer were in very good condition .....Much better than the parts that were on the Green/Cream colored cab

Got all the parts on the slab and started bolting stuff back together ....

    NOTE
The one piccy that shows a sloppy chalked line is the approximate place the fenders will get cut.....

Then comes the task of anchoring the hood to the fenders near the rear of the hood to make the entire assembly one piece so it can tilt......

The rear portion of the fenders (About 18") will bolt to the cab as it did originally.....

Getting the hood and fenders fastened together took a bit of imagineering.

Wound up modifying the original hood hinges as they already bolted to the hood...

A bit of luck....I had some formed steel angle that was perfect to fit in the slot where the hood sits into the top of the fenders....A great spacer and allowed a good bolting place to buckle things together....

Got the modifications done yesterday and parts welded together.

Still a bit of work to do.....

The entire assembly must go up onto the cat in one chunk ....So lifting points are a MUST HAVE.....

The new fabricated parts will allow for 2 points to lift at....There will be a handle at the front of the hood to tilt it open....THIS will be the third lift point.

We can grab the entire assembly and sit it onto the Cat and anchor it with the original bolts at the cab end.

A new "Platform" at the front of the cat will provide a place for the front of the assembly to mount and tilt....

This area is right where the new radiator will fit down in the Tub of the cat itself and things are critical as far as what needs to fit and where/how....More imagineering.

    Some pics of things..

Actually....things are coming together far easier and much better than I had expected.......
