Just say you are going to leave them. Then they start throwing the deals at you.

No competition around here for that which is why they get away with never offering specials like Verizon and Comcast do. I cringe when I see those Triple Play bundles for 99 bucks locked in for 1-2 years :(

I could go with satellite but too many trees for a good line of sight. Plus the only time I really want to watch broadcast TV is when the weather is crap and satellite can drop out at that time.

I've heard that works and it was after I dumped their tv/home phone that all of the specials on TV started showing up in my mail box.

Oh just got offline with Abigail from TW and my email is all fine and dandy, they changed server names and are going to have all kinds of fun dealing with old farts like me if they do stupid things like that and drop long standing names that were auto forwarded. I haven't changed my email server names since the dark ages.

I used to feel that same way. Was told that by two lazy installers. Then I got determined and got someone who was motivated. Bingo. Excellent TV from satellite. I had dish then direct TV. But my internet is TW. No fair point access here.

I didn't lose any as I was still getting email up until I did the ole password and server change routine and then I lost the receive side. I had to have the little online chat and it didn't take anytime to get things running again, I just had to do a bit of typing.

I have zero competition here, either dial up or satellite, and the only company that is willing to come out here is DishNet. It took me a year to get internet here, otherwise I might have moved in sooner....

IMHO Dish has better customer service than Directv.

Dish, no two bills alike. Didn't like talking with people I had problems with a thick accent. They were rude to me on the phone.
Direct TV has better DVR service. Workers speak English as their first language. Always polite.

I started with the cable folks as soon as I had an accepted offer on this house and got nothing but baloney until I showed up at the counter in South Portland with equipment and cables in tow and said I am and here is and why can't I get a straight answer on. They did the dance for two months until I got the name of one of the high mucky mucks from an inside source and made a call. They installed my stuff on a Saturday slipping an sliding all the way.

We shouldn't have to play those games. Those are things we still have to deal with by not having competition.

I'm watching what is going on in the OTA side of things around here. There are additional sub-channels being transmitted. We have gained 2 new ones (23.2, 35.3) and 1 other has gone from 24/7 news/weather (6.2) over to other programming and another is following suit shortly (8.2). If I install a better antenna system I should be able to get 6 more. I have Amazon Prime, Netflix, and Crackle. In short I have far more crud than I can watch in several lifetimes.
