Stopped by Henry McManus hoping to get some LaCrete as he told me yesterday he should have some today or tomorrow. Not yet but should be Friday morning so hopefully can get 10-15 bags at lunchtime.

He has very little and hard time getting anything in this winter. He did have some LG but at 6.70 so at 30 cents more per bag I'll wait for the LaCrete.

7 bucks a bag  is why I am likely just getting something for the cold spells as I have already bought the oil.

Hellz, Lowes is getting 8.78 for Greene Team and 6.53 for whatever else they have. Guess LaCrete at 7 is actually a cough cough..... cant say it "bargain"

On a sad note, I asked Henry about Dan (petezharia) and was told he passed away this past Fathers Day. :(

Henry talked highly about and was rather close with him.

Henry said he was 72 and had been fighting melanoma for about 12 years.

Although he also said that the last time Dan was at the shop (not the last time he saw him) Dan emphasized that of anything happened to not be sad as he had a great life.

As sucky as it is, its still good to know. We LITERALLY were just talking about him in another chat and was wondering what happened to him.....and about a few others who haven't been around.

    Sorry to hear about Dan.....

My best to you folks getting the ARCTIC BLAST OF WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY LOW TEMPS
I have seen only a few times that we have had single digit temps and twice in my life seen below zero temps here at the ranch.....

Teens are not all the big of a deal....We see them off and on .....

Double digit below zero is nasty cold.

I was visiting friends years ago over East of us in the Mt's and they had a week of -20F to -40F

That sort of cold just puts a strain on everything.......Including the ATTITUDE...

And we have ignition. The pellet stove is running. Had to start it manually. Will ck out for problems after it has run a bit.. Oh feel the heat! We had just turned up the furnace to 70 yesterday. We had been getting our heat from the mini split. Son says the outside part has ice in it. Not sure what to do about that. Have shut it down for now. With the pellet stove on, the furnace won't run. Plus the floors upstairs will be warm. My son did all the work or it would not ever happen.

Just got home from work and fired up the stove as well! Full time for at least the next 2 days then likely sporadic as needed.

Picked up 15 bags of LaCrete from Henry at lunchtime, which gives me 22 bags without opening up the ton of Matras in the garage. Was cold then but nothing like when I left work and unloading the 15 bags from the back of my truck :shiver::shiver::shiver:

I almost left them in the bed of the truck till Sunday when it warms up.......but that's the easy way out

Mt Washington peak can actually be in the stratosphere tonight due to the cold blast contracting it.

Current wind chill up there is -106 degrees setting a new record for wind chill

Minus 2 here right now. It's the coldest I have seen in many years. I'm 1/4 mile from the ocean so I don't usually see real cold temps but with the wind coming out of the north, there is no seabreeze!
I turned the feed rate to #4 on the Accentra so you know it's cold. I may burn more than a bag in 24 hours! :dex: Setpoint is 67 and it's 67 in here so all is good.

p43 blasting out heat, comfy 71 in the house. Outside -11F, feels like -36F. Glad I brought in 6 bags of the doug fir pellets, may use them all till Sunday when it's supposed to go back up into the 40's.
