    Optimum Online ....supposed to be the "ultra 50", but runs above that on a consistent basis. I've even seen 70mbps

    Probably not too bad then...if you cabled direct to the modem I would assume you would be close if not at the 10 meg. You upload kind of stinks though....1/2 meg....

    Yup. When I had TWC, the tech that installed it told me that was the way to go unless it wasn't possible to run a cable. I found a way. Big difference in the speed after that, but the Optimum is WAY better.

    Typically to, at least with the company I work for, is they'll provision the modem over your rated/purchased speeds. So our 110 meg down and 15 meg up service is provisioned at 120 meg down and 19 meg up to allow for overhead. I believe other ISP's do this too.

    Some recent upgrades to the system's infrastructure around here. I use to be lucky to break 12 MBPS, so like IHATEPROPANE I can stream educational videos just fine now. Pretty sure I can get 50 but I am not willing to pay for that, I pay enough as it is :doh:

    But like others have said, the pricing keeps going up with it.
