It warrants at least 3 days of french toast after 3 inches! :p

I'm frugal! But the wife is not! She spends a bit of jingle on good stuff for her birdies! I'm just the jerk draggin the feeders out cause she's at work. Them little free loaders got a racket going! Same for them dang kikemins! But at least when they start baagaakin, I can threaten them with switchen of their electric fence and calling the cousin of mr bear!

Dem birds be lucky, I'm going out to toss peanuts and bringin the feeders with me!

I quit feeding the birds this year. One, feed went way up and 2, I'm tired of them crapping on my car......

Yeah all the car ads with vehicles blasting through a foot of snow at 50 mph don't help. People with AWD and all-season tires believing they can drive like it's summer.
Back in the 90's I worked for a vending/amusement co. For a number of years we ran a multi-room arcade setup at a bowling alley/restaurant in White River Junction, VT . For 3+ years I ran it and made the drive from Manchester to there and back every day. In bad weather I was usually going about 45 mph max up I93 to I89. I can say easily 100 times I'd watch people go flying by me, honking, flipping me off only to see them off the road a few miles later. I89 can be a bitch in winter weather.

I go out every morning around 7 and put out mealworms in the basket for the bluebirds , a couple times a week fill the seed feeder and about 7-9 days for the suet. We have a lot of bluebirds every day, one has gotten so big he looks like a tennis ball with wings. Have a wide variety of birds who visit- cardinals, bluebirds, mourning doves, finches, wrens, chickadees, juncos, 3 types of woodpeckers.
Has gotten so around 7 when I go out as I approach the feeders there is a sudden burst of chirps and calls through the trees like "he's here! lets gooooo". Had a bluebird land on my shoulder once while I was putting out mealworms like "c'mon bud I'm hungry".

I look for sales on feed & such. Ace Hardware a few times a year puts their 10-packs of suet on sale so I stock up , can usually find seed a good price at Walmart, Ocean State Job Lot, etc.

I had to pause one morning as a chickadee had landed on the large sunflower feeder. Lil brat couldn't wait for me to hang it. The Downy wood peckers like to swoop at ya while hanging the suet baskets. They are the pushy ones! "Will ya just hurry up already!"

Our bluebirds are scarce this winter. We had a male comming up until late november. but they've all wondered off to a warmer area?

About the same. here less the bluebirds. Wife was soooo happy she gets them here where the lake house they were scarce(too busy by the lake?). But she had to trade them for Oriols. we used to get a mess of them at the lake house. Only see them here once in a while. She still hopes and has the fruit feeders out most of the summer.

She was so happy to have a pair nest in her bird house and see the poppa bluebird bring his 2 babies to the mealworm feeder this last summer! She spent hours out there sitting on the back porch watching them.

Kitties like watching the birdies too! Kitty TV is pretty good up here! :D

I went Wednesday to get my shut in neighbor's groceries so I didn't have to do it Thursday night (when I normally do it). Since they were saying the sh*t would start hitting about 4 pm, I didn't wnat to get caught up in the madness of how people drive in the stuff. I was shocked that the parking lot was nearly empty. Guess they all waited until the last minute :)

There's a good size flock of em in the area that I see in the morning on my way to work. Havnt seen many in the yard for a while but have to yield to them on the road.

On another note , yesterday I noticed a rhododendron that we have been bringing back from almost dead was 75 percent eaten-likely a deer- that was not like that within the past week. Small rhododendron got pretty much 95 percent eaten late fall out front. :headbang:

One of the area residents......it's a young one, as the adults are quite a bit bigger. Black vulture.....there's tons of them here. They usually sit in the trees or on the rooves, and in the colder months in the mornings, with their wings extended to catch the sun to warm up.

We love it. It's been pretty trouble free over the years other than a few minor issues that I was able to diagnose and fix myself with help from this forum . Only complaint I have is hopper size.

Nice looking stove. We are in the market for a cast stove for our front porch. Was considering an XXV. But the prices are way more than we'd like to spend.

It doesn't look like St Croix makes it anymore. But they do have the greenfield which is Multifuel and has a 50 pound hopper. Its going on the look at list! :)

I have the same stove. Like you said, never a problem I couldn't fix myself.
