First cleaning of the pellet stoves of the year completed yesterday. P43 ash pan was full (it runs the most at this time of year) and P61a was about 1/3 full. It's not that I've burned that many pellets, it's that the pellets I've been burning are GS Northeast blend.

Although ashier than the pellets I usually run, I can't complain as they give decent heat and the price was right - especially seeing prices now.

In one of other BBQ forums, I believe they used a strainer and basically sifted the fines out... Then dumped the pellets in a 5 gallon bucket... rinsed ... repeated...

Yes, I made one. See pics:
    Pellet cleaner 1.jpg Pellet:corn cleaner - parts1.jpg

I also made a modification since my vacuum was bigger than originally needed, so I could cut down on the amount of vacuum....just a piece of PVC with a section removed.....I snapped it around where the holes were, and I could rotate it around to open or close off air holes until i got just the right amount of vacuum to clean the fines, but not suck up any pellets. The "hopper" was a plastic bowl I got at WallyMart:

Well Eric, thanks for the old memories.

I have a lot of memories and a damm active brain still. But likely the day will come that starts with,
" Who am I?" and other inane questions will occur.
