This second round of February weather sucks..

We dodged snow showers this morning and ran "Munchy" for two barrels of stove ready shells.....

I am hoping that spring returns soon...

We have two barrels of the last run left..
We have plenty in reserve....But I had hoped that we would have more of the last haul left by summer shut down time.

Rainy, windy, supposed to be down in the 30's tonight. Seems like I'm firing up the stove at night every other day or two. But that heat sure feels good as my aching joints voice their displeasure with the weather.

    Happy Easter to all....

Weather has moderated a bit....a few traces of snow left in the shady spots.......
Supposed to be nice today...big storm in here by late tonight and into Monday.

Been running the big Whitfield....plowing through the shells for sure....
Big boy on low held the temp at 70F in the house last night...

    Sure a strange April....

Cleaned both stoves yesterday while it was in the 60's. Used the soot eater on both exhausts and got a lot of chit out of both. I had been neglectful in not cleaning the exhaust runs for several months, so not unexpected. When I turned the stoves back on, I reduced the set temp for the basement down to 63*. Soon enough I'll reduce it to 58* and then of entirely. It's a balancing act in spring since I want the basement to stay as cool as possible thru the summer.

We have some weather heading to use Monday night into Tuesday morning.

Might get to use the new tractor plow?

Seems we always get at least one sometime in April. Luckily they melt quick. I didn't put my blower away either. Still ready JIC.

Edit: Warmer than they though! Just some light rain and no white stuff was seen!

Have the pellet stove going now. Not so much because it is cold. It is 50F and the mini split can handle that easily. It is just because it is damp, wet and windy out and the stove makes me feel warm and comfortable. Spring is coming on. The maples are in bloom, some spring bulbs. Green leaf buds seen on the spirea.
Took my mobility scooter to visit Longfellow's greenhouses. Lots of room there so I can get around fairly well. I went when they aren't busy. Good dose of green stuff. Good for the spirit after a long confining winter.

April is still giving us the business....

I tweaked the timing adjustments on the big stove just a touch so we can run it down on the lowest setting and keep a tiny fire going......

The big stove on low is better at heating the entire house until the temps outside get just a touch warmer.......Then the little stove can handle it...
