A bomb cyclone, also called “ bombogenesis are weather terms when an area of low pressure has a central pressure that drops at least 24 millibars in a 24 hour period. That is considered rapid storm development. It can happen any time of year and generally means a very windy storm with heavy precipitation.

    Class dismissed…..:D

Finally had to make a run to Home depot today.

The long vacuum hose we use to transport the nut shells from the dumpster to the barrels had been salvaged from an old Ridgid shop vac.

The last couple seasons have seen more gorilla tape applied to splits in the hose.

The other day during the last barrel filling the shell travel slowed to a crawl.....Snooping revealed 3 more splits and a huge loss of air traveling from the mouth of the long wand.

    More Gorilla tape..

    Enough.

Bought two new 7 footers and married them together to give us a 14 footer.

We should be in great shape now for a long time

The long hose that runs from the Far left of the piccy through the pipe guide piece and down to the operator sucking shells from the dump gate.

The silver tape can be seen on a joint in the hose.
The Shop vac provides the suction to the top of the "Barrel master" (Unit that sits on the barrel and has two connections) SEEN IN PIC 1162

One connection goes to the vacuum and the other goes to the hose that transports the shells.

The long pipe acts as a carrier to keep the hose from laying on the ground and also helps reduce the effort needed to move the shells along.

This entire lash up makes moving the shells from the dumpster to the barrels easy and removes most of the dust and such from the material.

The first season with the dumpster we bailed the shells out with a 2 gallon bucket and dumped it in the barrels.

Getting into the dumpster was just waaaaaay too much work for us old folks.

Once we can't suck any more out of the dump gate .....I stand on the fender of the trailer and stick the long wands into the dumpster and finish the last barrel full

Not having the leaking hose is gonna be nice......

Also picked up a 2 pack of filters for the big vacuum

I'll find out soon. I've already poured some of the broken bags into the P61a, on top of the NY/NH blend that was in there.

Luckily we never got that much(3/4 of an inch). But when I went to clean of the walkway it had already turned to ice. Threw down some sand and called it.

Sun came out today and even though its still cold out. It all melted away!! :D

I only got about 1". I saw on the news that Bennington got 6" (not too far from me). I'm assuming those at elevation 9such as yourself) got more than those of us down in the valleys.

    Raining a bunch here....colder too...
Back to running the big stove....albeit ...mostly on the lower settings

The S word is being tossed about in the forecasts a bit......Mid to late March can see a quick snow event ....usually a one day wonder.....

Glad we did our last shell run the other day while the weather was nice......

Windy and wet last night for sure........The blustery winds and rain coming down hard made for a cozy night.......Let the cat under the covers and snuggle up.....

Have pellets been hard to get there? They’ve been a little scarce here in Colorado this winter.
