I run Winterforce tires on my wife's van year around, The howl a bit but wear like iron, got 70K on this set and it's time for a new set and they bite really well (no studs). I really want a 'Vette, a new one but the dirt road kind of nixes that.

With my previous Explorers, I ran snows in the winter and standard during the summer. When I traded in my 2014 on a 2018 a couple of months ago, the 2018 had snows on them already (looking dang near bran new). Since I'm WFH full time, didn't bother getting a set of standards, so running the snows full time. Getting good gas mileage at 20-22 mpg and they run smooth enough that I'm good with them.

When those snow tires wear out, I still have the set from the previous Explorer (probably with only a 5k miles on them - having bought them for the 2019-2020 season and starting WFH that March). Only difference is that they are 18's instead of 20's, but I'll just get rims. I investigated the cost of getting standards, and basically a wash.

    Thank you!

I hope to try this diagnostic link tomorrow: We've been through it twice now in a couple days so unless there is a magical clog we've not found I wonder about the combustion or convection blower, this it says it shows current, does current indicate whether the squirrel cage is turning consistently or intermittenly?https://sbiweb.blob.core.windows.net/media/3816/ht00140e_2018-05-10.pdf

Note to self, just took off the icky OAK, it's a black plastic cover over insulation on a tube, been stepped on knocked off many times over the years between older doggies and puppies and one end looks kind of smooshed, let's see what happens running on house air to eliminate it was obstructing intake.

My daughter is looking for snow tires, I suggested the Winterforce and a few others. She said the reviews for the Winterforce are mixed, seems the newer ones aren't as good as they once were. I've got a set of General snows on the Corolla that are about 5-6 yrs old and perform great. Lori's Rav4 still has the factory Yokohamas, they have an aggressive tread pattern and perform well in snow for an all-season tire.

I use a pellet boiler in my basement. It's plumbed in through the oil boiler so it works as a direct replacement. I can still turn on the oil boiler if needed (vacation). So, just like the oil boiler, it heats the whole house plus the hot water and runs on the existing thermostats.

Have had excellent results from mine. They might have changed them, will find out as I have another set on order at Tire Buyer.com In reality, is anything as good as it once was? The cost goes up but the overall quality goes down. Fact of life in these times. Most of the reviews I read, the reviewers whine about the noise. I don't care and as a rule, I heavily discount reviews. I'm relating my personal experience. Nothing more. anyway.

Been through this before the oak must be metal with no sqiushes and sized according to the installation manual or else the stove can both overheat and be starved for combustion air.

That wasn't it , it only took a few minutes for the stove to get very hot to the touch and error out, F160 on feed 5. Back to the drawing board.

The oak is to spec, I bought the insulated one, the insulation that has pulled over the lip and was not rigid there. I actually tried to buy a new one about a month ago because it's hard to dust, bogieb found a nice one, I went to get the correct diameter and ordered the wrong size anyway .

At what altitude is your shack, the higher up the thinner the air is and the less heat it can carry.

2 years ago I bought a 2008 Volvo XC90 for the wife. It came with a mounted set of winter tires. They are called Nokian Hakkapeliittas. They kinda look like Blizzaks. I had never heard of them. After using them for 2 winters I am absolutely amazed how well these work. No idea on pricing but they work really well. Especially on ice. (no studs)

Nokia and Blizzaks are very similar and very good ice tires. Used Blizzak on my front wheel drive vehicles until I went Subaru and then 4wd trucks (yes drive responsibly even with 4wd or end up in ditch, median, abutment etc). Didnt really need the ice tires or sn*w so much at that point. Michelin LTS M+S work great on 4wd trucks as year round. Never once been stuck driving in all weather.

Current Colardo rig came with these beasts-Wrangler Duratrac. Noisy but traction to spare
