I had fun shopping for and finding good deals last year before we remodeled. Every other major appliance purchase was urgent, like mike, shopping at night, after work (in the snow and icy roads), and HAD to come home with something. Those were not fun.

Been working on figuring out the best way to use my two pellet stoves. It looks like as long as it is on the twenties I can set the stats way back during the day and crank them both an hour before we get home and still have a comfy 70℉ house. And it saves about 3/4 of a bag a day :dex:

How? On a timer? Does you control panel or thermostat do that?

My main stove I set back to 55 via thermostat. I have no idea how often my stove goes on or off to maintain that. Don't really care too much about igniter use. That thing can crank up rather quickly and I am no where near the top end. My second stove is in a room and it is off all day until the hour before I get home. It is also on a thermostat with it setback to 45℉. It easily gets that room to about 75℉ by the time I get home. And as soon as I open it to the kitchen, which is a bit cooler, it warms right up and the temps even out all over. So far it works much better than I thought it would.

Thanks IHP, but I don't understand what tells your stoves to crank up before you get home?

It's on a programmable thermostat which tells my stove it's time to turn on just like a typical home furnace. So Mon-Fri I set the temp to 55 while no one is home. Then an hour before we get home I program it to be 70 and the stove turns on and heats until the thermostat is satisfied.

I couldn't use setback as much as I do now. But did try with the little stove on the warmer days. With the horsepower I have now I can easily go to 66°F during the day no matter the temp outside and have it really close to 72°F by the time I get home. I too save a good bit of pellets by doing so. I wanna say at least 1/4 bag. And I probably get another 1/4 bag-ish once the night temps go over 30°F. When the night temps are below 30°F I let the stove go to low fire mode to help save the igniter some.

I've found things always go wrong in my house when I'm not home.

I spent several months in 2003 on the road for work. My fridge died in May 2003. Wife called me and I was in the airport in San Francisco waiting for a flight home. She unloaded it into a cooler, I got back home about 6 hours later, stopped at Home Depot a couple miles from the airport, bought a fridge and took it home. Not a huge deal.

In June 2003 the basement flooded during a freak rainstorm. I was at least in Michigan that time, but I was a couple hours from home.

In August 2003 I was in Denver when the pipe between the house and septic tank collapsed, causing all sorts of havoc (orangeburg pipe I found out after I started digging after getting home). I think she stayed at her moms until I got home the next day. Seemed I couldn't win that summer no matter how hard I tried.

Isn't that stuff awesome? Your house must have been built after 1955 but before 75???

My butt is kicked we got a foot of snow! It is funny how things work out. Went out and the snowblower would not start. I said a few choice words after my temp fix did not hold. Then the mail lady showed up and what did she have my carb a day early. Good lord blessed me and I slapped it on and got to work. Who else got covered in snow today.

I was thinking of you last night, I got a chicken strip basket last night at the local diner but the bbq sauce had no pellets in, i informed the waitress the bbq sauce was missing pellets and she looked at me like my elevator does not go to the top floor, :D

I converted some more music, had a short nap, and cleaned the roaster. Supposed to get below zero tonight. Currently watching VLC eat memory as it attempts to classify the 12+ GB of music file information.
