When I moved 5 of the 11 tons that were in the yard from the fire sales, I used a 4 wheel barrow and moved 6 bags at a time. For the rest of the tonnage the next year I got smarter and used the Explorer (I think I still had the Patriot for the first move). Didn't have to move that stuff far, maybe 30' to the driveway and another 35' to the back of the garage or 20' to the basement door, but still made it easier to move. I think I moved 25 bags at a time in the Explorer - that is a nice comfy number for not having to contort too mu to get the stuff behind the front seats.

All the whining by the news media about "DROUGHT"
    We are getting soaked......
September saw 3-1/2" of rain here.....October was over 5" of rain
So far this month we have had nearly 5" of rain and no letup in sight.
Unless something weird happens ...my bet is we will see 8" or more...

Been in the low 40's F....Finally had to fire the big stove up and run it round the clock on low to keep the shack warm.

Watching the weather forecast for a dry day to run and get more shells.
We will likely do 4 runs this year....

Yesterday I went and picked up a new (to me) pellet stove cleaner.

I bought this one (used) fall of 2014 and have done nothing to it but add gas/oil. Also got used during fall cleanup to get leaves out from under the ramp.

The new one - which actually cost $15 less than I paid for the original.

I may see if I can tear the old one apart and fix it. I'm sure I can tear it apart - it's getting it back together that may not go well :emb:. Or, I may take it to a local small engine repair shop. But I'm figuring it will cost me more to have someone else fix it than it cost for me to buy the replacement.

I use an electric leaf blower when I clean the stove pipe. I mount it on a step ladder at the end of the pipe, then I can turn it on and get away before the cloud of ash takes over the back yard!

What's wrong with it? Won't start? If not, does it have spark? Or starts & runs runs rough? The ethanol in the gas is death to the carbs on small engines. Taking it apart isn't difficult, just take pictures w/ your phone as you go along. Message me if you need any help. I buy/sell lawn mowers & riding mowers on the side, and have worked on a few blowers too....all about the same, just smaller. 95% of the time, problems are from dirty/gunked up carbs.

I've been using canned(available at hardware and box stores) gas for my 2 strokes ever since ethanol came out. So many better alternatives than ethanol as a fuel extender. But it is what it is!! :(

I mainly use the VP canned gas and add my own oil. More expensive than pump gas, But far less carb issues. I also run my 4 strokes low on pump gas in the fall and winter them with the canned gas. Sitting with crappy ethanol gas is what seems to kill them the worst. Spring start up are much less ethanol painful IMHO.

The Tru-Fuel, or VP Small Engine fuels are the best. In your part of the country, where the lawn mower/sn*w blowers only run for part of the year, those are good alternatives.

Taryl Fixes All on YouTube did a 19 month "study" on all sorts of fuel stabilizers, and his (& mine) opinion, they're snake oil. The engines with straight pump gas lasted almost as long as the treated ones. BUT.....they were started every month. Even the treated ones gelled the fuel in the bowl eventually.

His new test is what I suggested to him.....start the engines in October, and then let them sit until April as most of the northern states have to do.

If it's not starting or running rough/dying, just take the carb off, apart and clean it out. If you don't have any very thin needles to clean out the jets, just let the carb sit in coffee can/bowl covered in good carb cleaner overnight and blow it out with some canned air the next day. And always shut off the fuel line and let it die of fuel starvation to shut off, that way you're getting all the fuel out of the carb so no gummi-ness from any ethanol is left. Doesn't take much left to clog up a jet.

Lots of vids on YouTube on cleaning small engine carbs too.

More expensive than mixing oil into ethanol gas but the engines run without issue
