I've been running mine pretty consistently for about a month now, my house doesn't hold heat, so it'll drop into the 60s in a couple of hours if it's colder than 50 out.

He's still at home and helps pops when he can. Been working a bunch trying to save for a better car.

Yesterday I went to get a workout. I mean, I went to pick up 30 bags of pellets for $3/bag that I found on CL. They were advertised as NEWPs. Not a great pellet, but decent for the price. When I got there, he led me to the area they were stored, and apparently there was a combination of NEWPs and green Supremes. The person to pick up must have gotten most of the NEWPs as there were only 6 bags left. Oh well, that is fine, GS are decent for that price too.

The pellets were in a basement in an addition to his house. I had to move the pellets from the basement to 100-120' away to go thru a gate in the fence, while going around an in-ground pool. At least he supplied a wheelbarrow. I made 10 trips, hauling 3 bags at a time. Minimum that was 2,000 feet of walking (if I don't count the trips in/out of the basement - about 20' each way) and half of that was while balancing a barrow loaded with 120#. I haven't used a 1-wheeler for a long time - great core workout.

Hey, and figure I had to handle each bag thrice; out of the basement to the wheelbarrow, out of the wheelbarrow into the truck, out of the truck into my basement. So that was effectively handling 3,600#. Oh, and did I mention over half those bags I had to pull from way overhead, so I basically was catching the bags as I slid them off by my fingertips?

On the way there I had debated on telling the person I would take the other 34 bags in another trip if he didn't have anyone lined up to take them, but when I saw the work I had to do, I decided not to. I was super glad I hadn't initially told him I would take it all and taken my trailer - the wheelbarrow trips would have been longer as I would have had to park in the road.

I was responding to a post about snowblowers, not stoves ;)

My main floor stove has been on since 9/29 and my basement stove was activated on 10/18.

Up and at ‘em early today since it’s EST now and who really gets that extra hour of sleep?? Ran my P61A last night for the first and last time this season….the house is sold and moving day is tomorrow. I only ran it to make sure it still worked. We made a killing on our home of 36 years but it’s hard to believe we are leaving. Been burning pellets since 1997. I won’t miss humping all those bags but I wouldn’t change a thing about the past. I still have my Harman Invincible at my house in Maine although I almost never use it since I got the mini splits years ago.
I’m still going to hang around with all of you though…..you can’t get rid of me that easily.

Congrats!! And Good luck with the new shack!

Moving is not on my favorites list! Wife and I are plumb tuckered out. First night in the new place we got very little sleep. Second night was better but barely. Third night the cats were adjusted and took advantage of the larger area we now have for zoomies and They had some fun in all the packed boxes.

At $3/bag, you should go get the rest of them. 3-4 months from now, or next year, you'll say to yourself "That really wasn't all that bad, and look at the $$$ I saved". Given the high price of pellets, and the steady rise in energy prices, I'd just do it.

Still no first fire here, although I did uncap the exhaust LOL

I tend to stick to dino juice at this time of year. Probably should clean and test fire the stove but leaves yesterday and other commitments today are taking precedence again this weekend.

I use to move 2-4 ton by wheelbarrow from garage, across front lawn, down a small hill to the basement door. 5 bags in the wheelbarrow made for interesting stopping at bottom of hill.

No more as my joints cant do this anymore-started using the Ridgeline about 6 years ago. 20-25 bags at a time.

Currently have 1 ton pallet of Matra and 1.2 ton pallet of LaCrete in the garage. Maybe 10 bags in the basement. Uggg

This is where I will really miss the double hinged tailgate on my old Ridgeline as that swinging option made offloading soo much easier than just the conventional drop tailgate I have now on the Colorado.

Also, the Chevy sits higher than the Honda-yee ha ! Still have to wait for ground to freeze so i don't tear up the weeds , I mean grass. Likely won't be more than 10-15 bags at a time with the Chevy.

36 years worth of stuff….the purge was immense. Moving to a smaller place…all one floor. Change is good…..right?

Saw the same post on Craigslist, I was debating grabbing them, but my little RAV4 really doesn't like the abuse, and I *should* have enough for the winter.

I did the same in 2014 ....3000 Sq. Ft. house ------> 1200 Sq. ft. filled a BIG dumpster. After we sold as much stuff as possible on CL, I told the kids "besides personal items, anything we haven't used or thought about in 1 year goes in". They looked me like .........but once they started, it didn't take long to fill it to overflowing. And to this day, 7 years later, I haven't missed 1 single thing we got rid of.

With the prices of energy going up due to "changes" in Washington, DC, you need to be thinking much longer-term, IMO. But then again, I moved south and don't worry too much about heating anymore.

Same here. I had stuff in boxes that I hadn’t touched in 36 years. I tossed them into the dumpster without even opening them…..

I have a very similar situation from driveway to cellar door. Throw in three stairs!

I leaf blew...leafblowered...blew leafs...did yard work today. If acorns were pellets, I'd have fuel for two years!

28 year purge for us. I can't believe how much crap we stuffed into that place. :faint:

All on one floor here too(yippee). I can't do stairs that great with my spinal stenosis. My feet don't do what I tell them to do much any more.

Well, my oldest son picked up a new to him Harman Advance 2. Hasn't been used since last year. They seller installed a new forced hot air system in the house and will be replacing the pellet burner with a freestanding gas stove. The stove my son bought is spotless and the guy threw in everything related with the stove. Tools, vac, venting, manuals. He dumped a few pellets in the hopped and turned it on and it was burning within 10 minutes. He even showed him how to take it apart to clean it...including the fines box. Real nice guy too. My son paid $1500. Now the install. Harmans vent is roughly 9 inches on center and the Baby Countryside is roughly 18 inches. I hope he likes it!

The only thing that I didn't like was a metallic rattle when the combustion fan came on. Sounded like sheet metal vibrating. I'm sure it will be easy to find.
