Soft landing if you crash into him, your airbag won't even need to go off. :D

Lowes wanted $349 a ton for pellets. I think the same exact pellets were 289 previously.

I love watching those bad driving videos from India and Asia. Way overloaded tiny trucks, tiny motorcycles piled high with goods, trying to cross streams in a truck over a couple 4x8 pieces of lumber, ah such fun.

    Well now.
Stove season is here in full force now....Running pretty much round the clock on the little stove....
Got a lot of work done on the snow cat this summer.
Decided late in the summer that the standard S10 cab was not gonna cut it.

Began looking for a suitable donor vehicle to be used as an operator/passenger cab...

Looked at S10 Blazers and a few others.

So much stuff was just crap....If they been sitting long around here....THE MOLD IS WELL INVOLVED.......

If the rigs are still operable...the prices are out of my budget .....Or the rigs are beat all to rat crap and not worth carrying home.

Branched out my search as far as models go.....Looked at various different vehicles ...looking at the curb weight of each .

I have to be able to lift the body and place it up on the cat....

A recent conversation with a buddy brought up the Subaru Outback

I started looking in earnest for one.....Lots to look at on Craigs list..

Lots of beat up junk out there too....
Moldy rot boxes that have given their all and have been parked in the grass along side the garage...or in a field.

Every time I asked..."Whats the interior like" ??????

    Oh she is Cherry...

Drive to look at the beast....open the door ....OMG the smell of mold or worse (Rodents moved in) greeted me....YUCK

One rig (1998 S10 Blazer) was really decent.....but the rear brakes were stuck tight....
Too much fooling around to get that fixed.....

    A few other Rot boxes....Arrrrrrgh
Found a sweet looking Outback up in Portland.....Well it was sweet...except the RH side was wasted....Front fender and the door were trashed....
And of course all the posted pics did not show that side....

The other day I spotted a listing for a 2001 Outback LL BEAN edition....

    Pics looked good.....
They wanted far more than I was willing to pop for....But we decided to check it out anyway....

Yesterday morning we went to take a peek.
    Decent little rig........
Needs a good royal mucking out inside...(Just a bit dirty...BUT NO MOLD)

I am looking the beast over and the fella remarks..."The price is VERY NEGOTIABLE"

    He had been asking $1000
I was thinking $500 was a good spot in the budget.

So I made the offer....He grabbed it right quick...

We did some preliminary paperwork to seal the deal.....Going back today to pick it up.....

This little rig is loaded up with goodies and creature comforts for sure....
The leather seating is lovely...accept the drivers seat...Usual casualty of time.

    A few pics.

The cat as it is now
    2001 OUTBACK

This deal was a lucky shot

I guy and his dad made their living buying and selling used cars.
The had a nice little country shop with a good shop for detailing and another building for mechanical work and even a paint booth too...

The dad died a year or so ago and the family is selling off the last of the vehicles that are left......

The property is up for sale too....so they need to clear the place out.

I am glad we went to check it out.
    Only about 15 miles away....

Don't have any issues with the P43, runs great. Just figure I'd be proactive as the stove is almost 10 and $499 seems like a decent price for what's included.

I have bought from them in the past, no issues. Sometimes they do a site-wide 25% off sale, last time was August. Keep an eye out, maybe they will do something similar around Black Friday.

I ordered it along with the combustion motor fan blade (motor comes in kit). Given the current supply chain situation figured I'd rather get it now and not need it rather than need something over the winter and not be able to find it in stock anywhere and it not be available till 2023.
Geez I have turned into my dad, he had backups and spares for everything.
