We hung up a cheap bird feeder to see what we have for natives besides the bluebirds. Didn't take them long to find it! Too small for the cardinals to land on, But they are enjoying what the sparrows and finches drop to the ground.

Where the fiber connects inside your house, did they use a pair of fiber connections or a single strand that's multiplexed?

It's just one very thin cable that connects to the ONT box.

After a week of use can report no issues at all. Any time of the day I run a speed test it's always close to 1Gb down, 950-980 up. Notice that all our video streaming has been really smooth since the fiber. No buffering, no stutters at all.

Cancelling Comcast was interesting. Did the online cancel on Friday, site says they'll have someone call to verify within 2 business days. Comcast rep called that afternoon, asked why we were cancelling the internet. Told her "2.5x the download speed, 90x the upload speed, no data cap and $31/mo less". She didn't even try to offer us any deal, just said "sorry to see you go after 14 years". Might have been different if we had cable tv a/o phone with it but with just internet they can't compete on upload speed, data cap and price for 1Gb down.

Other interesting thing is you can keep your Comcast email account active. As Long as you've used it within 90 days of when you cancelled and use it once every 90 days after, it'll stay active.

That is interesting. They didn't used to do that. Had a friend that moved to IN back in 2010 or so and they had 90 days before it went dark.

I was curious because the ISP is using only 1 strand here too. Our internal fiber network uses pairs but the ISP has multiplexing hardware and can carry up to 160 channels on a single strand - depending on the hardware. From what I've read, each channel has a maximum capacity of 10Gbit.
