I bought 2 of the inexpensive "Zon OTA antenna's...1 for the LR, 1 for the BR. I'm approx 20 miles (as the crow flies) from Charlotte. I get at least 27 channels. So good in case satellite goes out during heavy rain. And the majority are HD.

Guy came yesterday to run the fiber line from pole to the house then said he could do the install too, so he did. He said it's him and 1 other guy doing NH installs, they were in Keene last week.

Tries to tell me he'll have issues running it through the stand of trees (that our electric and comcast lines already run through) to the house and he'll need to cut the comcast cable and use it to pull his line. I say no, wife is using the internet right now and we're not cutting the cable. I go inside to get the keys to move a car and find in that 5 min he's already run his line through without having to cut my cable line.

He installed the newer ONT (Adtran 622v-XGS-PON ONT) and a Zyxel VMG4927-B50A gateway. As we weren't expecting the inside install till Fri, I haven't run Cat6e over to that area yet. Hooked my laptop up to the Zyxel, get around 945/mbps down & up.

Got a lot of conflicting info from this guy. First he says yeah I can hook my Asus AX router directly to the ONT then installs the Zyxel and says I need that to connect. He said Zyxel had AX wifi but it's only AC (we have 5 AX devices). will try when I can over the next few days to get the Cat6e over and try it w/o the Zyxel. Worst case is I use the Asus as an access point connected to the Zyxel and disable the wifi in the Zyxel.

Got the Cat6e run and the fiber hooked up to the house network. Couldn't get it to work with just the Asus router connected to the ONT (Optical Network Terminal box that takes fiber line in, has 2 RJ45 network jacks for output) so connected the Zyxel gateway/router, disabled it's wifi, put the Asus router in Access Point mode and all is good and FAST.

Fast.com's speed test (on my gaming PC on the other side of the house hardwired to the 2nd AX58U which is in access point mode) gives me 1Gb down, 940 up, ping of 10ms. Speedtest.net shows 908 down, 845 up, ping of 19. Comcast's test gives me 925 down, only 247 up, ping of 47.

Did a Fast.com speed test on my laptop, over wifi, the laptop has an Intel AX200 wifi6 card in it. 1Gb down, 800 up, 11ms ping. OVER WIFI, f'n amazing. Asus' AX wifi6 devices really perform well.

    Just checking in.
Nice summer weather the past week or so.
Tuesday night about 11 pm I had to haul the other half to the hospital with a nasty kidney stone that wanted out....

We were on our way home from a night out at friends when all hell broke loose.
We got to the VA hospital at around midnight....
The stabilized things and did a stent..going to blast the "Rock" in a week or so....

We were home by 11 am Wed morning....

    What a night...I have been through similar..so I can sympathize.....ARRRRRRRGH...

No stove stuff since late June......

Have had a couple in the past, the pain can be excruciating and seeing bloody urine is a bit shocking the first time.

    Thanks for the good thoughts.

Sadly surgical intervention will be required (Minimally invasive procedure with a laser to disintegrate the huge stone....and pee it away)

We were in the car on our way home when this issue popped up....

One moment things are fine and then screaming and barfing......
Ahhhh..no time to discuss things....Haul the mail for the hospital....luckily it was close by...about 3 miles...

At midnight the traffic was nearly zip nada and made quick travel possible...

Accept for the dammed photo radar....yeah it got us.....I will deal with that later.....Medical emergencies tend to take top priority in my book...
