Not sure what came on it when new, but either the dealer or previous owner must have put on new tires VERY recently, as the tires seem to be new. Goodyear Wrangler TrailRunner AT's.

That actually looks like a good tire for the big truck. Not as aggressive a tread as the Duratrack (making it quieter) but still looks like plenty of bite there.

Definitely will keep that in mind.

Still running the small stove...Cool and wet.

Decided that since I can't really work on the cat outdoors that I would get back to work on the fresh 400 cube small block chevy for the beast.
    1979 400 small block from a pickup.
Block is all stripped out now, all threaded holes tapped to clean them up.

All soft plugs out and the bores cleaned.
The oil gallery plugs removed and the front ones behind the timing chain are now tapped 1/4" pipe tap instead of the soft plugs.

Dropped the block off at the machine shop to get a test bore done on two of the cylinders that were rusty....(More than just surface rust)

I found a couple NEW OLD STOCK pistons in +.030"
I wanted to be sure were were good to go before tripping the trigger on the new slugs.

Should have an answer in a day or so.......

    Gonna be wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy cool.

Finished it will be a 407 Cube beast.

This should make the beast go.

Make sure you take the hitch out of the receiver before you put that folding gate down.....otherwise you’ll have a nice dimple in your tailgate...

This May the outdoor temps have been 15-20* below, or 15-20* above the average - nothing in between. I've had at least 4 days over 90* and a lot more in the high 80's in the last couple of weeks. I was planning on packing up the P43 for the summer until I saw the forecast for this long weekend.

I had the portable A/C on in the living room on Thursday as the temp rose to 92* outside and full sun until the cold front moved in and cooled it off to the 70's about 6 pm. I opened windows for a while, then closed them and let the sun (which had made a reappearance) heat the house up to 78*. Yesterday morning, the temps were down the 50's, and the house had cooled down to about 70*. The house stayed right around 69-70 as it was super overcast and the top outdoor temp was 62.

I removed the portable A/C (it uses the window next to the pellet stove for exhaust) knowing that the house would get colder. The P43 started up later last night (set at 68*) and has run a couple of times since. Will probalby be pretty much the same until Tuesday, then the outside temps will soar again.

Just trying to get as much in as possible.
Cannot get a lot of the usual brands.
When we do, they are gone.
    Some no problems, yet.

Happy Memorial Day to all my FHC friends. Enjoy your day, and never forget the reason you CAN celebrate freedom.
