Maybe we can get a mod, jtakeman, or Grizzly to give us an update on these....are they the new "norm" for the forum update, just a gremlin in the update, or what?

I've been talking to the son of a Zagray Farm Museum member that passed last year. He has a 1930's McCormick TracTractor that some other members helped him rebuild. He called to donate it and set up a day for us to pick it up.

started and drove on my new trailer no problem. Now we need to return for the parts tractor. not many of these around anymore.

Thanks troops for the B DAY WISHES.....68 YO and counting.....

Weather is on again off again between early spring/late spring and then early summer.

Stove off now, but we ran a barrel of shells the other day to make sure we can have a spot fire if need be.

Been getting a fair bit of work done on the Snow cat.

Trying hard to get the steering Differential all back together.

The center planetary case (Compensator) is all back together now....
The drop boxes and the covers are done as well.
Gaskets should be here early next week.

Bearings keep trickling in one by one.

13 big ball bearings and one big roller bearing in that bad boy.

Everything about the sucker is heavy......

EBAY HAS SAVED ME A BIG BUNCH OF $$$$ ON BEARINGS

Bearings that would cost $100 or more each I have scared up for $20 or less each....

8 bearings in the two drop boxes..... and list price is about $80 each

That definitely takes the wind outta da check book.

I have scored 4 so far off ebay and spent only $89

All new stuff...some with ratty looking boxes....but I am gonna burn them anyway....

Got the steering bands relined last week.
as soon as we get the gaskets this bad boy can go back together.....

Good morning all. Oh my gosh, SO muggy here this morning. One of those days where as soon as you walk outside there is dew forming on you, lol. Oh well, everyone try to stay cool and have a great weekend. Beer helps.

Ony slightly better in my house at 63% humidity this morning. At least the A/C's keep it cooler feeling than the outside at 72*, while it is 71* and 83% humidity. It will be about 75-76* inside by late afternoon if it is sunny today. My portable A/C in the living room has a dehumidify function that I run early in the morning for about an hour. Brings it down some anyway. Gotta empty the reservoir today since it is to by muggy/humid all week.

Woke up this morning at 2am. Yeah, not a fan of that. BUT, ran the dishwasher and made enough pots of coffee to last thru the week (refrigerate and nuke thru the week). At least doing those things this early in the morning helps the A/C's not work so hard recovering.

A bit of rain this morning and possibly into early afternoon.

Been warm enough that the AC runs off and on.

Been able to get a fair bit of work done on the Snow cat project.

Trying hard to reach my build goals before fall weather sets in and things get too nasty to work outside.

Likely no stove things for a good while.

Looks like July weather is gonna get up to speed this week.

I started mowing this morning at 7:45. Very humid but at least in low 70's (when I started) and cloudy. Got my lawn finished by 9 and temp was at 75 with the humidity at 78%. Took a 15 minute break to hydrate, saw the neighbor leave, so I went over and mowed his yard. Was completely done shortly after 10.

Took a 1/2 hour to hydrate and cool down while reading in the sitting area in the back yard (shady and elevated so it catches any breeze). The view from the sitting area is quite different since I took most of the fence down (left a couple panels to remind the neighbors where the line is when they take their dog to do his duty just on the other side of it).

That is the shade garden I put in in 2015. All the stuff to the left of the orange lilies is invasive roses and assorted greenery in the swamp.
View from sitting area without fence.jpg

Can see the orange day lilies to the left, and some eye popping yellow day lilies thru the break in the hydrangea tree to the right.

On a hot and humid Saturday we set trusses in the sun!

    last full truss being set.jpg

only had the last full truss to set Sunday morning. while the two younger guys had the lifts, I scaled the 10' stepladder to do my end!

    plywood 2.jpg

End of day Sunday - we quit early 4:15 or two beer thirty!

    plywood.jpg

about 60% plywood complete. Now we don't need a 6 man crew and can proceed with 2 or 3. To say that I am a tad sore would be an understatement!
