The cat originally had a Ford 391... Engine is gone now.....
This cat had been a groomer at a ski resort back in it's day....not sure where it came from...
    Local Oregon cat I assume....
Tranny is still there, as are most of the rest of the drive train

My plan is to cut down the frame on the cat....lose the cab and all the rest of the extra crap

Then this little critter is going on top.

The van will be a drive on, remove the tires/wheels and then bolt the van to the cat chassis.

The vans drive train will connect to the cat with a custom multi piece drive shaft.

    Actually a pretty simple layout.

I needed the cat frame, axles, differential and such to build from....

I woke up this morning and turned the stove up so it would start then walked to the coffee maker to turn it on. Just as I got to it, the lights in the house went out. But...not completely out. The lights were dim. I ran down stairs and flipped the main breaker. I was worried that the low voltage had fried my almost new control board for the stove. I fired up the genny and once the power was back on in the house, hit the start button for the stove. Thankfully it fired right up and ran fine. Then I turned the coffee maker on and had my coffee. Power came back on within an hour. No word on the cause. First time I have seen a power failure like this!

Got a new toy that is out for delivery right now. The boss had breakage in her Koss shelf system and it refuses to play CDs. So I ordered a re-cased car system for her. Bells and Whistles time.

Is this a 12volt system with a step down power gizmo (120v AC to 12v DC)?

The input section handles 100 to 220 vac, I don't know but suspect the intermediate is close to 12 volts dc but really don't know the plug is not polarized the setup doesn't say and I would need to talk to VW about their Chinese parts. The system has about 10 Asian dialects in its Screen language setup. It has a Siri voice control system.

The recaser says the AM function doesn't work but dummy me thinks it really does but is swamped via noise or lack of antenna.

    Dan...
This is a project that has been 52 years in the making.

I have wanted to own a cat since I was 16 YO

I saw a van/cat conversion a few years ago and I was bitten by the bug...

The hard part is complete....I have a cat to work with, and the price was affordable (Very) and it was only 30 miles away....

Over the past few years I have had the opportunity to buy several....buttttttttttttttttt ....much higher prices and distances in the thousands of miles away.. (One way)

This deal was a godsend for sure....
And to have it already loaded on a trailer and the fella says "Hook up my trailer and take it home" "Bring the trailer back when you get it off"

OH MY GAWD....The fella was sooooooo generous to offer that deal.....

Now the plan gets pretty mundane.

Lots of old GARBAGE to cut, chop and hack off.

This machine has a TILT CAB which is a nice perk if you are using the machine as it is
But for me....it's just an item to resell and recover some of the $$$$$

Sitting out in the elements has taken it's toll on some things, but the parts I want are in pretty good shape....

Probable the hardest and most time consuming job is going to be building the new tracks.

I can salvage the tire guides off the one track I got with the machine and I have some others lined up.

Then its a lot of fabricating the new grousers and bolting this stuff all together.

Found an outfit up in Washington that sells Heavy duty belting for the Aggregate business and can supply me exactly the sizes I need (Four belts 3/8" X 12" X 287")

These are going to be totally custom built

I need 36" tracks that have a 4" pitch (Drive sprockets are 12 tooth on 4 inch pitch)

The Original machine (Thiokol 2100 Packmaster) used only 57" wide tracks
Machine was 149" wide, which is way too wide to haul without detracking....

Plus, I want to be able to run this beast down the road WHEN WE GET SNOW

    12' 5"wide makes that a tough call...
But cut it down to 102" wide and its a walk in the park.. LEGAL TO HAUL AND DRIVE ON PUBLIC ROAD WITHOUT PERMITS.
