Think I went 7-8 years before first gasket but it was a needed change at the time. Much better burn after replacement

Hey G - how's it going there, been a busy season here.

Happy 2020 FHC peeps! * It's almost end of February, I'm right on time w/ that one.

I'd like to know how your testing ends up w/ the North Country & Vandy Plats, if you get a chance to do so this season - really would be interested in the pellet quality out-of-the-bag (fines/dust/consistent length) also. ... The Satisfaction/LG pellets here have been consistent (vs. years past), but dusty this season.

    Just an FYI

I have had extremely great success using the high temp black/ or?? RTV to attach the door rope.
It stay flexible and is far easier to deal with the the regular "Door rope cement"

With the door off the stove and laying flat

I clean the rope groove well...then add a good bead of the silicone all the way around the door.

Starting sat the bottom center (Make sure the rope ends are FUZZ free) stick the rope into the groove and work it into the goop....move along keeping the rope in about the same shape as you go. (The rope can get larger or smaller depending on if you stretch it or not...keep it sort of slack so you get the full size of the rope)

Work the rope all the way around until you reach the starting point....carefully cut the rope so as to allow the ends to fit snug... Goop the ends well just before you place the ends together..
Smooth up any silicone that has oooozed out.

Carefully examine the finished job to be sure all the rope is laying in the gasket tray/groove correctly and that things look even.

USE THE DISPOSABLE MECHANICS GLOVES....THE SILICONE IS A PAIN TO GET OFF YOUR HANDS

Allow the door assembly to remain flat for overnight if you can.....this will allow the silicone to cure well..

Reinstall the door and carefully close to check the fit.

At times the first rodeo with the new rope can be a tad tight....it will compress and things will be fine soon....Better snug than loose.

A leaking door gasket will cause a lot of issues with airflow up through the fire pot....

    Have fun.

I remembered you are on an ARB not an ACE inhibitor. And you hit on the reason you are "warm" not "cold" the PT folks were thrown for a loop when they were having trouble getting my ticker up to their speed. I told them I could ride my goes no where before coming in.

Mcmanus mentioned he might have some North Country pallets open for bag purchase shortly but likely not on the Vandy so not sure if I will be able to test those. subsailor uses and likes them alot. Henry mentioned some bag issues on the NC, which hasnt changed from when I burned them years ago but the product was good. He thinks he might have them around 250 for the spring.

So I had a real blond moment this morning. Decided I would get something done on the house today (not much, just clean up some stuff). Looked up at the ceiling of the basement and noticed that I hadn't completely pulled the old doorbell wire that runs along the main beam. I put in wireless a wireless doorbell at the garage so the wiring is not needed. Got up there and cut the wire at the wall by the stairs (the old doorbell was on the stairway wall) and then worked my way back, removing wire staples as I went.

Oh, oh, this wire eventually meanders up to the living room . Argh, it's to my thermostat for the boiler. Stupid, stupid, stupid - I should have chased that wire both ways before cutting anything. Realized the end coming out of the stairway wall actually makes a hard left turn behind the kitchen drain pipe, back behind the chimney and to the boiler.

Now trying to make lemonade out of lemons as it would be nice to put in a wireless thermostat so I can move it to the back bedroom (if it gets below 62*, then I want the boiler to kick on as an emergency back up. But after doing some research (and my very limited understanding), it doesn't look like I can't wire a hub into the old thermostat wire (at the boiler) and run it that way - which is what I had envisioned since I have no interest in doing any type of wiring. It also looks as if everything either wants to work thru my router, or thru a dedicated router so I can control it thru an app (which again, I have no interest in and am adamantly against as a waste of $$ and effort).

Well, at least I am saving propane as I shut off the supply line since there is no need to have the pilot light lit. Oh, and Google is really pizzing me off because most of the stuff it shows me during the search is UK related :hair:

Thanks for the info., and will appreciate whatever valuable info you find on pellet(s) you wish to share. ... Just think of it like FHC "Kindergarten" class sharing. Thanks Mr. G.

It's cool you are getting out there to McManus / to purchase pellets - since Emily graduated UNH Durham, I haven't been back out in the area - I'm feeling the need for a road trip ... real. soon. now. Betsy was cleared for light duty / just started back to work on Wednesday of this week, so things are finally starting to get "back to normal", whatever that is (not) here ... LOL.

The big cat is finally home.

Son in law got to the ranch at 9 am and we headed down to Molalla, Oregon....

By 10 we were there and getting the plans together.

Got the big Dodge hooked up and it would not drag the cat outta the swamp.

The machine has been sitting on the trailer for a few years and things had sunk into the soft dirt/muck now.

They brought up a big 4x4 tractor and helped the BIG DOG and out the kitty came.

Then the guys used the hydraulic winch on the service truck to load the track (Only got one) and the other goodies on my trailer.

We checked things out and and headed home.

    Uneventful run....all went well...
