Me too. I'm fortunate that this driveway is flat. My last driveway was uphill, both ways (horseshoe) about 80' on each side.

This morning found that they had winged back overnight so there was another berm. Just drove over it to go to work. Just got in from cleaning up the berm and the roof dumpage on the ramp. Front part of the roof hasn't dumped yet. Guessing I'll have to dig my way into the garage tomorrow night.

And salt does enough damage to our vehicles, I'm not using it on the driveway.

Sand will work just as well if not better as it sits on top of the ice and stays there. On the few times I used some salt/sand mix many years ago, it has melted down and frozen back over overnight like it wasnt even used.

Not good for animals-I know there's other stuff that's safer but I'm not paying for that when I get free sand (or salted sand) at the town transfer station.

I just dont want that crap all over the place, its bad enough on the highways. If I can work harder and keep it pavement, I prefer it.

I live 1/4 mile from the beach. One 5 gallon bucket a year from there takes care of any ice

I keep a large plastic container (maybe 15-20 gallon) in the garage thats filled with sand from the town. That might be emptied over a 5 year period as its used only when I really have to.
I learned real fast how heavy sand is getting that container out of the back of my truck -especially when the sand has moisture from outside storage.

Funny how sand is getting heavier as I get older and I am filling the container with less now :p
