Was nice yesterday,20f but full sun. So I did a badly needed cleaning on stove.Did not snow enough last 2 times to have to plow. 1 thing I do not like about the Accentra, a lot of ash misses the pan, goes to either side. i might build some side shields over the summer, to test. However, i love the extended hopper I made, has been great with this being a colder winter.

Left work and got on the highway. The roads in extreme southern NH were just wet but were trying to get slick the closer to Manch Vegas I got. Had an accident happen right in front of me about 10 miles into my commute. 3 lanes and two cars in front of me. I was hanging back a bit because the road goes down to 2 lanes in that section. I'm unsure if the car hit an icy patch and swung a bit as the front end went under the back end of the truck in the next lane, or if the back end of the truck got squirrely and skipped over the car's front bumper (my bet is on the car losing control). All I know is the rear of the truck got thrown in the air, hopped a couple of times before landing, then stopped before hitting the barrier at the side of the road. The truck looked to be in fairly good control though for everything so at least the driver didn't panic. The car went careening and spinning to the other side of the road. I pumped my brakes several times just to give traffic behind me warning to slow way down. Truck looked in good shape, front quarter of the car was a mess and parts all over the road. Drivers looked all right - hope their evenings didn't get any worse!

Got home to about 5" of snow with a light sleet falling. Got everything snow blown and shoveled just in time - the sleet turned heavy just as I came inside. 28* so the ground will be slick in the morning.

Was planning on doing this as well but its still heavy mix and turning ti freezing rain later. Looks like an early rise in the morning to clean will be a better choice.

    I think..................

wunderground keep pushing the end back and now shows ending about 1am.

Yup, leaving it till morning. Temps shouldn't freeze it and better to catch the freezing rain in the 4-5 inches of snow out there.

Yeah, I noticed that originally was supposed to move thru fast and after 5pm would be good. Then got pushed back to 7, then 9. At least it ended some time after I went to bed. Good luck with he clean up!

Up at 4am and outside by 420. Doesn't look like it ever turned to a heavier freezing rain which was good, but still 5+ of heavy crud.

All cleaned up in just under 2 hours, with a 20 minute delay when 2nd stage auger shear bolt broke. Not surprised as that is a special bolt and looked iffy when I re assembled the auger assembly. Luckily I had one stashed.

Really hoping the auger gearbox/tranny is ok. It would have made be feel better to find a hard failure aside from a bearing dislodged on the input shaft. Any time I hear a "different" noise will drive me crazy now. Never mind when I pick up the next rock that makes a BANG

I am very meticulous when with the first couple months of snow blowing and shoveling. But the later into winter we get, the closer to spring, I clear enough to get by, knowing a warm day is just around the corner. We drive a Silverado, and three Jeeps, so as long as the walkways are clear and dry...
