That's what I am finding with the Matras as they have been in the P68 since Thursday. Awesome heat from very little flame, almost zero ash even on a low to medium burn, stove temp.

Bought 10 bags to test and they are a really great pellet-downside is price but they are top shelf for sure. Love the smell of these pellets !

Only thing to remain is how the firebox cleans up after. Previous high octane pine (Vermont and 802 and maybe a batch of the original and real Okies) have left behind a dark black substance on all the walls that was a beatch to clean. The Matras have turned the walls black as well, just need to see if its an easy brush off or a hard scrubbing needed but haven't had the weather to shut down and find out. Prior to cleaning, I will do a good high burn to try and get anything that can clean up.

Luneyburg , how did your P68 clean up after the Matras?

Really interesting G as mine turn the walls of my stove tanish white instead of black ? Perhaps its the higher rate my stove has to burn to keep the old shack warm but I run it on room temp mode 100% now so it does cycle . When I really go to town cleaning about every other week I take a damp not wet towel and simply wipe it away with ease , rinse and ring it out and repeat until all of the walls are bare steel and also hit the heat exchange as well which works really wel because of how rough they are cast and hard to scrape . Works exceptionally well , heck give it a shot buddy and see if it removes the black stuff as well. Can't Imagine any ill effect will happen as it is dry in no time so not really any time for rust to begin. Have been burning Matra's straight up going on week 3 with the exception of the 2 bags of Ambiance and was really happy with their performance, great heat and yes more ash but much less than most hardwood with perhaps the Northern Max when they were a premier pellet.

I experience the same with any hot clean burning softwood like Vermonts, AWF, and cant remember if I get the same outcome with woods & sons as its been a while since I have burned any. Did not experience the same with the EB super softies .

I had that with the Matras that I burned last year in the P61a - no likey that part. Did put out really good heat, but that stove doesn't burn hot enough for long enough to keep that stuff from forming, so I'm happy to burn colder pellets in there.

He wrote me a script for sleep meds right up unlike the five years I dealt with my second to last doctor, the last doctor the first words out of her mouth were I dont prescribe narcotics ....
God is Good sleep is on the way !

Thanks Luney. Just for the heck of it I brushed a small area of a sidewall tonight with a heavy rag while still burning and the black stuff seemed to come right off with no effort. Also if I had a sticky buildup like some others, I wouldn't be getting the heat at low burn like these Matras are still giving-no less output from when I started bag one.

These are some great pellets and even though on the expensive side, I am using far less than burning cheaper pellets. I may very well pick up a ton or two for next winters colder season.

Henry mentioned that some of his DF customers like these better. Since Ive never burned DF, I cant compare but I can see why they could rival at less $$.

Interesting, was it a sticky buildup? Unless it changes when cooled down It seems to be coming off pretty easy while burning-obviously just a small few inches test wipe.

As I mentioned, Vermont did that to my and a friends XXV about 5-ish years ago. The 802 (Vermont clone) did as well but to a lesser extent. Their main issue was funneling which my P68 has never done

Within fire chamber of the stove itself, not really. But behind the ash pan and thru the exhaust was another story. I had just cleaned the stove top to bottom including soot eater & LBT, so it wasn't left from previous pellets.
