Remember I mentioned that I thought the flame on my Accentra just wasn't as active as it used to be? I said I was going to check the gasket on the fines box. I think I mentioned that the wing nut was not as tight as it could be. Well, two days later and I can report that that was the problem. First I tightened the wing nut. One full revolution, then thought that I should pop the cover off and check the gasket. I did and it was fine so I reinstalled the door and really snugged up the wing nut. Now maybe the gasket was off a bit but I doubt it because it's held in place by the folded edges of the door. The difference is amazing. 50% less ash. To think, I was blaming the Wood and Sons pellets when it didn't look like they were burning completely.

Lesson learned. Think about the air flow in the stove and then think where a leak could be. I checked and double checked the door gasket and the hopper cover gasket as well as the flapper in the air intake. Finally the fines box cover. It doesn't take much at all to affect the air velocity. I'm an idjit

Generally... and I say generally, if you are using what is considered by many,
to be an excellent product... chances are "pretty good", it isn't that..
Best to try another bag or two of something else, to see if there is a significant difference.

I just ran a bag of Woods and Sons through and they burned just fine. It was the (small) decrease in airflow caused by the fines box door that caused the problem. The way it's burning now I could probably burn coal in this thing

The stove developed what I thought was the "Harman squeak" this morning. I didn't think it sounded like the auger. It was subdued and sounded more in the back by the auger chain. I pulled the cover and using a rubber hose as a stethoscope, I discovered that the noise was coming from the bushing that holds the shaft for the slide gate. A couple of drops of 3-in-1 oil and no more squeak. Wonder if it was a result of my messing around in the fines box?

LOL! You obviously had to work on vehicles where you either had to remove front inner fenderwell, or cut a hole in it, to replace the blower motor!!

Sorry, been busy, and a bum, all at the same time. So happy I have my plow truck fully functional, again. Although, a bit of a strange winter,so far. We have only "really" plowed 3 times. but I did have to fire up the tractor, to move some piles. We have the first snow still here, because has been a "normal" winter(cold), buried under other snow. Light powder snows sometimes go away fast, on the driveway/road, because it evaps away. Snow pack here, at house is low, less than 3', but above me, higher in mountains, is normal.

Don't know how much I have burned, but I may not have enough pellets for april. Will count the empty bags, before I bag them up to take to dump. I have 1.5 ton left in basement, and 1 ton outside in back of old jeep. However, this was part of the plan, will soon burn the ton of Ligs that has been in basement for over 3(4?) years. Hard to do rotation with a tiny basement. Probably no way to get old Jeep out(if I unloaded it) to get another. But, I have a almost full propane tank, filled when prices were very low, and i could put 1/2 ton or more in summer astro van, as I rarely use it in winter. So I have options. New kitten is growing very fast now, eats like a horse, and litter box proves it!

Finished fixing neighbors f250 plow truck, broken spring u bolts, driveshaft and u-joints, was very nice to work on an 80's truck that was not rusty!! So I made some cash, and, because they had to cancelled the new years party(his wife crashed skiing), they gave me a case of bottled "Kirkland" micro brews.I do not know who makes them, but they are now in fridge.

Went on a computer service call for a church. Helped the lady set up her new computer and transfer information. While there, lady gets a frantic call from daughter, all toilets backed up and drains, no water going down. Me being the handyman offer to go look at it. just a mother/daughter in house. I confirm theres a problem, probably septic backed up. They have a map to where it is. They drew it with "paces" from a tree lmao. Well i dig it up, and septic isnt full at all. so i said ok main line is clogged. I'll be right back with my sewer jetter and to hold tight and not run any water. My plan was to feed through the septic tank and clear the line without issue (snake failed) and the jetter *always* works.

I get back 15 mins later with the jetter. They were freaking out. I said what happened? they decided they would "help me" and so they found a large pipe wrench and went into the basement and opened the main line cleanout!!!! needless to say the entire plugged line, all the toilets, sinks and whatever was backed up emptied into their basement.

So, luckily its unfinished but the smell was ridiculous. I retrieved the cap, reinstalled it and proceeded with original plan and it worked perfectly. Luckily they did not want the basement cleaned.

    Some people!
