From time to time the question comes up "HOW TO CLEAN THE STOVE GLASS"

I start with the vacuum cleaner and a 1 inch wide brush.
Holding the vacuum at the base of the window and brushing down to remove the soft ash that collects.

After the worst of the crap is off the glass I use Fantastik and an SOS pad.

Spray the glass lightly (Just wet the surface)
Use the SOS pad in a circular motion to loosen the black/brown residue on the glass and wipe off with a paper towel.

Finish the window/s with a pass through with the cleaner and the SOS pad, wipe off, then respray with cleaner and finish with a clean towel to end with a nice clean glass.

    Been doing this for years.

Gets even the nastiest burnt on crap off the glass.

DO NOT USE ON THE COATED SIDE IF YOUR GLASS HAS IT.

I keep my SOS pad close to the stove and use it until it falls apart.
Generally the SOS pad is sitting on the base of the stove out of harms way.
I usually get a season out of a pad, and by summer they are ready for the garbage can.

A jug of Fantastik lasts several seasons as it does not take a lot of the stuff to do the trick....just a little spritz and get the worst off, and then a finish spritz with a clean towel to make the glass sparkle...

I will be showing a pic of the tractor that followed me home the other day, it will be in the driveway tonight :D
A bit overkill but the price was right, any smaller and the price jumps drastically

had our spring show at the museum this past weekend. The grounds were looking pretty good Friday afternoon......until the deluge came:hair::bug:. A soggy and cloudy start to Saturday, but the spectators came anyway. Had a great day with record breaking income in most all operations, parking, vendors, food sales, etc. one of our parking guys has a Kobota 4WD UTV diesel. he used it extensively pulling out cars stuck in the mud for people (no charge, of course). Sunday was solid rain - we didn't really open. anyone who came was admitted free. I spent the day on the sawmill cutting lumber for our mezzanine in the new tractor barn. I wasn't allowed to wrestle the logs though - still recovering from bypass. 95% though, but still a little rib cage discomfort now and then.

Stove season has come to a halt these past several days.
Been warm and dry...AC made its debut last weekend.

Sucker been off since Sept/Oct of last year.

I cleaned the moss off the fins of the condenser that always seems to grow every winter.

Checked the filter in the air handler and FLIPED ON THE T-STAT.

Within a few minutes the air was coming out the vents at about 50 F

This is right in the middle of the normal range on my test thermometer.

Run the beast all day and then checked the evaporator for water leaks from the drain pan.....The pan is a 1993 vintage and was metal instead of the plastic they use now.

Our old pan sprung a couple leaks several years ago and I patched them with HIGH TEMP SILICONE :D

Also added a large red plastic funnel to catch and drain off what could not be patched up.

I finally found a new evaporator that fit the older furnace and it has a plastic drain pan.

I hate messing with the beast.... so as long as it stays leak free (Not dripping into the furnace case) I bless it and say..."JUST ONE MORE SEASON BABY...ONE MORE"

Been doing that since about 2012:whistle:

In order to swap the evaporators I need to close the high pressure valve on the pump, turn on the system and then run until the low side goes into a vacuum...then close the valve and then shut down..

Then cut the lines at the evaporator, swap the evaporators, reconnect the copper lines, then hook up the vacuum pump and suck the evaporator and lines into a vacuum for about 30 minutes to clear any moisture that may have entered during the swap.

    Now...
Open the valves on the condenser and start the system again.

Check the pressures and the vent air temps and hopefully things will be OK for a few more years.

I installed the system in April 1994 and other than clean the filter and the evap and cond fins a few times......Nothing has been done to it. RUN RUN RUN RUN

ONE MORE SEASON OLD GIRL...ONE MORE.

Sure wish I could cool with nut shells

We are supposed to see some rain/showers and cooler weather by early next week.

May have a spot fire off and on.
Usually we don't shut down totally until early June

There’s something new, Fantastic and a SOS pad. I hadn’t heard that before. I just use a proportionately damp rag and dip it in the ash. Cheap and effective.
