This morning started off with completing the quarterly newsletter for my HOG Chapter. Sent it in to be okayed by the higher-ups. Surprisingly they both got back to me in a fairly short amount of time so I sent it in to be published.

Just got done cleaning both stoves. The P61a was a 3/4 clean - everything but brushing the exhaust (but I did LBT). The P43 got half a cleaning since I didn't touch the exhaust at all. I looked from both ends and it was still pretty clean. The North Americans, although very ashy, didn't send any cr*p to stick in the fan blades or pipes so it is good to go.

Was racing the warm up to empty the stoves (and the ash vac) as it is supposed to get in the 50's today. I wanted to walk out to my ash dump before it got muddy. I got the ashes from the cellar dweller out while the ground was still hard. By the time I was taking the ashes from the main floor stove out, it was getting soggy and squishy. By this afternoon it will pretty much be like a bog.

Next on the list is to send emails to the HOG chapter members who are delinquent in renewing their memberships. Geeze, this volunteer work is taking more time per week than my part time jo9b used to. Eh, keeps me off the streets at night ;)

Another CL find. I don't get the concept, get on a step stool to pour bags into the holder, then use the pail to transfer to the stove. Does not seem to be efficient, or even cut out any issues. I must not be thinking of this correctly. Don't get me wrong, it is a pretty piece (love that hourglass level indicator), but just leaves me scratching my head :loco:

LOL,gotta agree.Dispensers are for rich people, that fire up the stove right before guests come over,and/or,go to their winter house a few times a year.Their caretaker refills the dispenser.

OK,after the input here,on new vac. cleaner, checked walmart online, amazone, and others, went ahead and got the Lowes only special.Much lighter than my monster I have been using for stoves.Comes with standard canister filter, and drywall/fine dust bag.The HEPA canister filter has been discontinued, for the smaller models, found out why, when used with a drywall bag, burns up the motors. Not really a problem.Stove does not need cleaned, might be a bit before I use it,but,is small, and way lighter than my huge shop vac, much easier on my arm.It does not come with, nor did the store have,an adapter,to use the larger adapters from big vac.I have a tapered tube adapter,I use to blow out the flue.I may have to use a pieces of foam,on the smaller adapter, for this, but, being a newer Shop-vac,the intake and exhaust fittings are standardized,I can use the bigger hose and fittings, from the older vac.A good idea from the manufacturer.Oh well,if does not work out(which I think is unlikely) will make a good vac for the vehicles.

I have seen those too, and got the same feelings.
I guess it's just a nice place to keep a few bags of pellets without having to look at bags laying about.

    We have our own routine.

    Bring buckets upstairs.
Sit them under the center island in the Kitchen (Just inside the back door/utility room)

Carry to the stove and sit in the corner.

Use contents and then place empty bucket by the back door to go back down for more.

Usually will have between 2 and 4 buckets in the house and all full by evening time.

Buckets cost very little, come in a wide selection of colors with ads printed on them too...

We use a small plastic scoop to fill the little stove (Has two openings to access the hopper as the exhaust passage casting traverses the hopper and the small scoop makes it easy)

Come summer the buckets usually get stacked up behind the big stove in the family room until fall....
