    Town boys came by at 4 to do the first pass on my road since before 5:30 this morning. 4:08 it came by the other way and is their habit, they turned around and came by the third time a couple minutes later. I was out the door by 4:20. Was just going to clean up the driveway and take care of the berm (which was really sloppy and threw like crap - no chit :D). But once I get to blowing snow it's hard for me to stop, so I did everything a second time (parking area, drive to the tent garage, path all the way around the house and all along where the propane tanks are). Didn't strictly need it as there was only a an inch or two of ice pellets on the ground, but I was having fun and got in the groove. Now if the wind they had forecast had shown up, I probably wouldn't have done quite so much.

    Tonight it will be in negative digits, then the temp will spike to a whole 2* for the high tomorrow (I'm not betting on that in my area). Wind is supposed to kick up tomorrow - I won't be heartbroken if that part of the forecast is as accurate as today's (as in, not). Loaded up the pellet stoves with TSC's as I will most likely be putting at least the main floor stove on stove temp tonight or before I leave for work in the morning. Even at a really, really low constant burn the P43 can get the main floor way too hot for me so no reason to waste any Matra's for that.

    Roof won't dump for a couple of days unless wind starts pushing some off.

    Hard saying how much snow as I too had 3 foot drifts. Sleeting/raining for most of the afternoon with a high temp of 9. Blazers burning like champs, toasty 74 in here. The stove seems to throw more heat this year after replacing both door gaskets last summer. I no longer have the ash buildup on my firebricks either.

    I love my 1986 John Deere lawn tractor. It's heavy like a tank and has the snow blower attachment on the front. Like a trusty friend, it never lets me down.

    Stay warm folks.

    Wind is howling here too. Put the P43 on stove temp and turned the temp down to a little over 70* (it is usually at about 80 since it is thermostat controlled). 72. in the office right now - where the thermostat is (it is set at 69). Bedrooms are at 69 where usually they hang at 64-66.

    1* here @5am, wind blowing pretty good, was just out walking the dog and I'll guestimate it's between -18* and -20* with the wind chill.
    :shiver::shiver::shiver::shiver::shiver::shiver:

    I didn't like it, and neither did the dog.

    Mine are overdue as well. I can see it in the ash buildup and color.

    Not bad enough to do it during burning season-and there is the trap. I have to make sure and do it when I am not thinking about burning

    Got up a little late and walked by the basement door. I turn the stove down overnight so the amount of light down there from the fire is much less than during the day. This morning it was like the sun was out in the basement, it was so bright. Must have gone thru a bag from 11:30pm to 5:30am

    46 degrees in my truck this morning and ice / snow free. these are the times I really appreciate the garage attached to the house! Kathryn's door would not go up - frozen at the bottom. she called me I said give it a good swift kick or two. success!

    had to move a large tree branch off the road yesterday or we couldn't get out (last house on a dead end street). ice chunks falling on me and the truck while I was doing it. I kept thinking...… another branch could come down and damage my truck...or me!

    read on the news this morning of an Eversource contractor clearing a tree in my town was killed by another branch. what a shame.

    I left the 2 inches of slush that the blower will not deal with anyway and i'm not shoveling. drove the truck over it to work in some ruts before it froze. Kathryn did the same. it will melt come Wed / Thur warmup.
