Well...the new year came in with a lot of noise around here.

About 15 seconds past midnight All Hell broke loose around here.

The neighbors started off with some pretty nice aerial display fireworks and then some fire crackers (M80 MAYBE..

Then somebody set off what sounded like a case of dynamite :bug:

That boom literally shook the house...

After that things settled down to a dull roar for another 30 minutes...then quiet..

    2019 was officially ushered in...

The weather was a bit cool late night with some areas of frost... but nothing much.

Spoke with the nut plant manager yesterday for a bit and we have a GO for a load of shells tomorrow morning.
The weather is gonna give us a nice day today and tomorrow and then rain again Thursday.

Trying to juggle getting loads of shells in is a PITA with the on again off again rain, holidays, and other obstacles... I am hoping for another possible pull on Friday, but the weather reports are sketchy at this point...

But it's always been dependent on the weather... A couple years ago we had a light snow falling on us while we unloaded... albeit it was just tiny perfectly formed flakes that never did much, and the best part was there was zero wind.

I went through yesterday and counted all the barrels we have now and I am still not exactly sure of an accurate count.
I do know that we have plenty, even with having to deal with the uncrushed shells this time

Happy New Year everyone. Figured I’d stop by and say hi.

I’m somewhat torn about not having a pellet burning appliance anymore. In a way I miss it (I enjoyed the pellet hoarding, loading, the occasional repairs and even the cleanings), but at the end of the day NG is a lot cheaper at the new place. The wood stove keeps me warm and helps satisfy my inner fire bug.

Hope everyone has a safe and happy 2019.

Happy New Year to all !! Been awhile since I have posted. Cold had me down for a few weeks, just couldn't shake it. Been working way to much, deer hunting, then trying to rest because of being run down.
Think I am going to join bogieb and Luney in the job changing game. I have been working in a small, privately owned mechanical repair shop. We work on cars, trucks, trailers farm equipment and well anything. Due to the owner there is little structure of scheduling, hours worked, shop cleanliness, etc. I work much to much, and at 58 I'm tired of it. So I may be going back to my old job doing maintenance ( pneumatics HVAC ) There was too much structure there, but a new company has taken over the contract and they made an attractive offer. I want to work 40- 48 hrs. a week, not 55-70 I'm doing now. 7am, to 330pm sounds wonderful. Not going to happen for several weeks as one of the workers just told them he was leaving in March.
Been burning mostly Chows and TSC white bags. The E2 has been chugging along happily, keeping the wifey and her surgically repaired shoulder and the three dachshunds warm and happy. Hoping everyone out there has a great year. Be safe and enjoy !!!

    Doggy

Going to re-seal my vent coupling on the living room stove... my son moved it while re-arranging the furniture a few weeks ago and it came apart. Didn't think about smoke leaking into the house...

Other than that we are OK.

Quit a new PT job after one week. Was delivering auto parts from the warehouse to three retail locations. Other than the 5AM start I thought it would be OK. But my five herniated discs and a bad SI joint thought differently. Way too much heavy lifting for an old man... obsolete facilities without fork lifts was no place for me.

Now I'm back driving a Kenworth a couple days per week...

Got into the exhaust pipe today, seems lbt does not get the lower 1/4 of the length, clean out tee had way too much ash in it :emb:

Granted it sounds better but still burning dirtier than expected. The airwash vents have been clogged since right after we got it, so there is always soot & ash on the glass, but it's still too black. Supposed to make it into the 40's* on Friday, going to have to wait til then, mamma's not willing to shut it down a zero high and -15 at night. Hopefully hubby can get up there and check the cap, wondering if thats getting plugged up too. Snow should be gone in a couple days :) Oooh, just remembered kiddo will be partying down with Grandma on Friday, perfect to tear into the stove!!

I hear you on being in upper 50's and tired of the extra hours and the surprise hours (way too regularly) and never actually getting as little as 48 hours in a week because of working for a small company. Hope the place you are thinking of going to has corrected its "too much" and it will be just right for you!
