A couple of weeks ago I ordered some Omaha steaks off my credit card points. They came in last Friday and have been in the freezer. Decided today would be a good day to have a steak with sweet potato topped with cinnamon and butter. Was so good I did it twice

Well it looks like the catastrophe with the new shells has been generally averted.

Taking more work than I REALLY WANT TO PARTICIPATE IN THOUGH.

With a bit of luck this season will be the only time we have to deal with the issue.

We had some very finely ground shells that we bought from another plant several years ago ( Like 1994 maybe) and these have been stored in the basement all these years.

I decided to start mixing this stuff into the grind with the new stuff as it goes into the final grind...
The process is getting the weight of a full bucket of READY TO BURN stuff up to 20 + pounds instead of the 15-17 pounds of the clean stuff.

Amazing what a little extra fines do to the fire.... much better..

That is pretty interesting. Generally people think of fines as "bad" (dust and some stoves have problems with it), in your case seems to be just what you needed. Great way to experiment with your available options.

    Merry Christmas to all!

I made a Paella in my new 22 inch Paella Pan with Chicken, Chorizo, sausage, shrimp, scallops, clams and mussels. Oh my I’ve never had so many compliments. Especially from my daughter-in-law who didn’t have to cook. I guess this will be our new tradition. The house is quiet today as the grandbabies are all at the Son’s- in laws over night.

So today I have big plans....a nap, a movie, a long walk and maybe another nap, before the little ones return tonight. :)

The fines are not really dust, but with this stuff are more like very small pieces of shell.
Maybe the size of BB's or slightly smaller.
There can also be small pieces of broken nut meats too (The oil in them makes for a great fire)

Dust is an issue with all fuels/stoves.

Normal weight on a 5 gallon bucket of the shells is about 20 pounds, but the new stuff is so clean that we are at 15-16 pounds.

The added fines gets the weight up to about 20 and the stuff burns much better.

The clean stuff would be sweet by itself, but would require fiddling wit the fuel feeds.

I don't want to change things as once the plant is back to normal things will be good again.

I did find that running the big whit on #2 gets a nice hot fire, but also uses more fuel, and the temps are a tad more than what I want...

I like to see the vent temp and 18-20" out at 150 F but the #2 setting puts it at 170 F
    A very delicate balancing act.

The little stove seems to be liking the clean stuff better and the pot is staying much cleaner with far less clinker...

Vegetable soup is my nemesis this week. I've been buying the ready-to-cook cans of soup the last couple of weeks. But those suckers are $3/can. Sunday when I saw that frozen vegies were on sale 10 for $10, I jumped on it and grabbed 2 each of 5 different vegetables. I knew that my freezer only had room for 5 or 6 bags, but that was okay as I was making Vegie Soup! 4.5 bags filled the 6.5 qt crockpot over the brim. but left enough room to get the lid on with the stuff piled up in the center.

Thought the vegies would cook down in volume. That was not the case. I have a full soup bowl for lunch and then for afternoon snack every day now (and sometimes dinner too). And will be until sometime in the weekend before it is gone from the looks of it.

The boss is reading the destruction manual on her new crock pot pressure cooker do dad, could get interesting around these parts. My eldest daughter visited Zeb's last weekend and I'm on my way to a tummy ache. Christmas was today at this house. Tummy aches for all and to all a good night.

I'm thinking I may not be getting this order, for a Christmas gift for my nephew..
Start at the bottom of the tracking list, and work up...
Keep in mind, I live in New Hampster,
45 minutes from the distribution center in Biddeford Maine...
