I'm thinking the same thing. The Kenmore things we've bought over the years are pretty good. But thinkin Sears are bout done. At least Lowes seems to stand behind what they peddle.

I'm real careful putting a lot of stock in user reviews. A lot of people buy something, use it once, and write a review saying it's the best thing to come along since sliced bread. I look for reviews where the owner has had the item for a while.

Freezers/Refrigerators take a lot of abuse the newer ones fall apart at about 8 years.

    ditto

Every set of reviews has "its the best" and "its the worst". Look for consistent issues throughout the whole lot.

Basically spent a little more than I planned on, but I am still $700.00 less than the check Lowes sent me-and that's including the 5 year warranty

They are OK. We have not realized the savings I thought we would. I believe that we need to cut down the towering ash tree in our front yard, but I need $1500 to get it down and I don't have it yet We did get a $300 check last year from Solar City because we didn't meet there estimated power generation. If I figure out how to grow a money tree I would like to get a battery system. Maybe when they get the systems better.

Marc, I've tried 19 trillion ways and can't get solar to pay for us. I rarely exceed $50/month on the electrical bill.

Is solar really a viable option in the Northeast?

This is the way to view them.

I had to laugh, the other day I was looking up the price for some outdoor woodstain at Lowe's. I've used this particular stain on landscape timbers last year and it still looks great. I wanted an idea of the cost (woohoom it was on sale!) since I have more timbers to stain. Anyway, I happened to click on the review page and found several that had 1 star. And I'm thinking what could possibly be so horrible? well, apparently it is "too thin", "not thick enough", and "runs all over the place". Seriously? You buy stain and figure it will have the consistency of cement or polyurethane or even a good interior paint?

People are just stupid sometimes. So, I felt compelled to write a review and include two pictures taken a couple of weeks ago showing the stain held up very well even though it is directly below where my metal roof dumps snow, ice and water.

How could you use that stain again???? It was so thin that I can still see all the grain and cracks in the wood!

    The horror !!

I actually get some good info from the "questions" area here and there.
Although there are some real gems too...... reading one of the question areas along the way, someone asked if water had to be hooked up to the fridge in order to make ice

Well technically the answer is No. You can still make ice the same way they used to (ice cube tray) - and you certainly don't need any water-to-fridge hook ups for that.

So two demerits for anyone that answered with just "Yes". Yes with a caveat that the requirement is for using the built in ice-maker is okay. 15 demerits for whomever asked the original question though.

    Hey troops

For all the fishermen out there...

Ever have the line on your spinning reel spool off in the reel box or in the cabinet and generally make a mess.

    QUICK easy and cheap fix.

I grabbed a couple packs of the PONY TAIL SCRUNCHIES and they work sweet.

Better than a rubber band, easier to handle And look good too.

With my collection growing and many reels with line on them, the mess of line coming off is a big deal.

$1 at the dollar store and ya get a hand full of these cool colorful little gizmos
