A lot of the time it means you are eating lunch while working or in a meeting. Hourly people do not want to wait for you to take a break or lunch when they need something. And since we have about 3 different "shifts" - about 2/3 of production is working at any one time
They didn't say that I was paying for parts, that is just my take on the split on how much I am paying versus what the normal charge is. I am paying $750 of the $1900 bill. Like I said, I know their normal charge is extremely high, but I've checked around and don't find a place that I could get it for that. I also don't know if they are replacing other parts since I didn't ask.

Well, to be fair, they said the warehouse they ordered from sent the wrong part. Which is why they said they are ordering directly from Ford this time. But I tend to have a suspicious mind, so came up with other possible scenarios. Oh wait, I have a Quality Assurance mindset and am offering possible root causes :D

Yeah, I called a couple of places looking for prices for replacing the compressor (for a reality check), and some wanted my VIN, then did the research and called me back with the estimate. Other, far cheaper places only cared about the year and model to give me an instant quote on the phone - and those I figured were not reliable.

Just for your info, here are some prices for your Explorer (I'm assuming 3.5 V-6 w/o turbo) from Rock Auto....pay attention to what YOU could get a NEW Ford (Motorcraft) unit for.

Also note....Ford parts are generally more $$ than, say, GM. A new a/c compressor for the same year ('14) Chevy Tahoe is only $162 from Rock Auto.....BUT, much less than a '14 Dodge Durango ....$575.

Top 5 day today. Took the dogs for a walk and it feels like a cool September morning. Next up mow the lawn, wash the truck, and then take the boat out to catch a few lunkers!

I think I have had 3 lunches away from my desk.

How about those that come up to you or call you asking something as if you were are aware of the issue they are asking about. "When are the parts coming in for the service call I just did?"

7 techs, 6 salespeople, 1500 machines in the field........and I am suppose to know what he is talking about. Yeah, I have many comebacks for those types of questions.........

I finally found the Mani, they had it hidden behind an isle rack. Yay, I can now drink the cheap lower shelf stuff.

Try Wine Concord Grape in this case usually associated with Passover but it usually is not proper to serve at Passover (search me I am not up on Jewish dietary rules) Mani is short slang for Manischewitz.

Passover wine must be Kosher no corn syrup only cane sugar can be used if sugar is required. Most wine has some corn syrup or other such sweetener in its fermentation. Check the label, my Mani is Kosher.

Mowed my yard this morning, went to the dump and did some errands in town while a load of blankets was in the washer, worked on my new sitting area, brought the clothes from the line into the house, took another trip to the dump to get rid of damaged bags of pellets that were outside and had gotten infested with ants (was going to use them for mulch until I found the ants), Stopped and got some mulch and marble chips, mowed the neighbor's yard late afternoon, took a shower, wrote a couple of blog posts to assure my folks I'm still alive (they don't do FB).

Here is where I used the cedar mulch and marble chips

Timber in the foreground is just there as an assistant - not done yet but did take a break afterward and read for a bit. Catches a nice breeze and got to watch a Downey woodpecker catching bugs in a tree just to the left of me (as I was seated)
