Heck, I accuse myself of that - and agree with myself. Doesn't stop me from researching things to death and confusing myself before I finally just DO something :faint:

Finally have some time to myself. AS9100 audit went pretty good with just one minor NC to correct and then they will upgrade our cert . Owner is taking me and a couple of other people who worked real hard on this out for a fancy lunch next Wednesday - wonder if she'll hand out a bonus check too (jk - that ain't happening but one can always hope).

When I moved into the "new" shack here back in '14, I put all new appliances in (fridge, stove, dishwasher, microwave, washer & dryer)......all but the stove were Whirlpool, and stove is a Frigidaire (Electrolux).
Fridge stopped cooling after 2 days, so Lowes came & took it back (luckily I still had the old (still working) fridge on the porch & brought it back in). I told Lowes I didn't want another one of those, so after I ranted & raved at the nice lady at the store (Kudos to Lowes....she was very nice & helpful) about all my spoiled food (not), they agreed to give me a much more $$$$ KitchenAid as a replacement (yes, I was aware that it's made by Whirlpool).
Almost 4 yrs later, everything is still humming along <did I just jinx myself???>

As for Consumer Reports.....I still find that most of their reviews are pretty close to being correct. I usually don't buy the top rated one, usually because it's almost always the most $$$. I usually picked their "Best Buy" or something down a couple steps, but that seems to do almost as good as the top.

I got an email later that day with an official offer to pay me the purchase price. I just had to call back and ask for a supervisor.

When I called I was asked if thus was about a buy back. I said yes, then I was asked about the problem I was having. Told her the fridge was not cooling. She says "OK let ,me schedule a repair". Told her we had already tried that and I had an email offer to buy it back. She asked me to hold-which I did for several minutes. She returns and says, "sorry for the wait, let me get you too a supervisor".

Supervisor answered and confirmed the buyback. I was told that the check may mail out that day but upon calling in again yesterday to check on the status, I was told that the check is in process and should take 10-14 days-which sounded more like normal process to me anyway.

I also put in for over a food spoilage claim. The policy has a $250 per incident coverage.

The new design top load washers are a nightmare..

We bought a new set 2 years ago and got the new top load washer with the low profile agitator (AGRIVATOR)

All in and ready to go... READ INSTRUCTIONS load machine as instructions say... START MACHINE
A few minutes later the beast is trying to tear the house apart... STOP AND RE POSITION THINGS....few minutes later the things is walking across the room and almost pulled the hose out of the wall..

Tried a second load and had just the same results.

Called the dealer and told them to come get it....

    LARGE ARGUMENT FOLLOWS
I explained to the manager that I would be happy to come to the store and MAKE A BIG AZZ SCENE...
Washer went back the next day...

We replaced the thing with a front load Maytag Maxima

    Sweeeeeet machine...
At high spin speed the thing is rock solid with nearly no discernible vibration.

I wonder how many laundry rooms have been torn apart by the new design top loaders ????

ONE SECRET WITH THE FRONT LOADERS

    WHEN NOT IN USE
Drape a folded towel over the front with a heavy object (jug of wash soap) to keep the door slightly open.

This allows the drum to get fresh air and not turn sour..

Otherwise these machines will get nasty in just a few days.

Wish we had purchased the FRONT LOADER the first time as we ended up with a mismatched set (They would not take the drier back as it worked fine)

Should have bought a CRAIG'S LIST cast off and just fixed it when it died... been far cheaper...

Just curious, what style fridge? Top Freezer, French Door, Ice maker/water dispenser?

This was my first fridge ever that had water or ice. I actually waited mire than a year to hook the water up as I needed to run a line to a cold water pipe. I can do without water dispenser but I have grown fond of the ice maker in the door. What I dont like about most ice makers is that it uses so much room in the fridge or the freezer. My LG did not do that as it was contained in the door. Again more $$.

Too bad, I loved everything out the LG and it didnt give me a bit of trouble until 10 days short of 5 years. If LG gets their chit together and improves infrastructure then they have a great product.

I have had a front load for about 10 years now and have always left the door ajar. Also, use some white vinegar in with the detergent as that kills off the bacteria as well. Never had had the smell that so many complain about.

    Ready for the weekend weather!
And a reminder that this weekend is about those that made the ultimate sacrifice, so I can sit here on my phone, enjoying a brew and cooking on the grill without a care in the world.

I have a top load Whirlpool HE with the low profile agitator. Have had "0" problems with vibration, clothes come out great. Main reason for not getting a front loader was exactly what you mentioned.....stink & mold problems.

Sounds like LG is wining and dining them a lot. Almost every LG is recommended and in French Door, LG is the Best Buy and another LG is the top rated pick.

Below is right from the CR website about Brand Reliability on fridges. Not a single mention of LG poor service, yet the user reviews on the CR website are heavily tilted against LG when it comes to service. I dont know what a service contract has to do with reliability but according the below they dont count you if under a service contract. Thats just crazy right there.

And talk about misleading? Kenmore is not made by Kenmore, they are made by the other manufacturers and they should be asterisked by the actual manufacture

I really feel like I just wasted 55 bucks as I opted to get the magazine sent for the year as well.

I bought an online subscription in 2009 or 2010. We had looked for a Duramax for WWW for several years with no so luck started looking at other models when the truck I have now popped up. The online was super handy and I still had access to reports and ratings etc., for several years even though my yearly subscription expired.

I just had a Kenmore fridge delivered on Wed. Saw an advertisement on tv and looked it up, yep, same fridge labeled for LG. It can get confusing with that, at one point I had narrowed it down to a Bosch dishwasher and CR best choice recommendation was model xyz, but BestBuy and Home Depot had the same washer but labeled xyyz and xyzz.

Good luck WW. There must be success stories as we all know you see mostly the bad reviews. If a fridge is working, no one thinks twice about it. Also total sales will skew the numbers as well and I think that the Whirlpool, GE, Frigidaire brand and subsidiaries are outselling LG and Samsung.

I am tempted to buy another LG and get the 5 year plan as they have the features I want. But every time I read user reviews the doubts come right back.
