    Pretty uneventful here.

Weather has been a ROLLER COASTER these past weeks, with some hot days and AC on and then cool cloudy days with rain and the fire on...at least part of the day.

Been having morning fires in the little stove...this morning it was 63 F in the house so definitely needed some fire.

Hey Doggy...hope ya get to feeling better soon.

    Hurting parts just sucks ...

    Some good news though..

Got to work on the little Astro van we bought back in February... The rear end howled like a 5 alarm cat fight and this was not conducive to wanting to drive it far.

Jacked it up and yanked the rear cover off the diffy ... ohhhhhhhhhhh my GAWD...

All manner of shiny crud in the oil.

Carrier was sloppy side to side, carrier bearings were shot.
The LH side gear was nearly worn out and likely the source of all the metal crap.

LH axle bearing surface on the axle was gone as was the seal...yup, the breaks were a goop pit too.

    RH axle was sketchy.

Ripped the entire thing apart and then off to the U PULL IT yard.

2 axles and the inner gears of the carrier (took the entire set)
Found one pair of brake shoes that were good to swap into the LH rear.. (Yeah I know, ya supposed to replace them as complete sets) The RH side was like new, did not see any sense in wasting them.

Surprisingly the ring and pinion were in perfect shape.

Ordered a bearing and seal kit online (Half the price of the parts house locally)

Mucked out the housing and axle tubes really well and stuffed it all back together.

Got over 100 miles on it now and quiet as a church mouse.

Very happy with the results...Considering the horrific noise coming from the thing it is a blessing that it was salvageable so easily.

Decided to take a peek at the AC as it would not cool.... charged it and pooooof..cold air.

Sadly by morning it was dead again.

Recharged some and went after things with the SNIFFER...
Bad seal in the compressor and obvious oil seepage as well.

The little vans are such the getting at the AC pump without digging a bit leaves things real hard to see.

Headed off to the bone yard and scared up a clean pump..

Likely this afternoon I will swap out the bad one and recharge the beast.

And a good time was had by all.....

Shop was just a little to cool for painting a project I am working on,
so I did light that stove.
Shop is actually warmer than the house...

Well I got a multimeter but also found paperwork showing that my warranty is good until 5/27

Called Lowes and set up an appointment under warranty. They can be here June 1  What if I didnt have a separate freezer in the garage?

I did still pull things apart to clean the condenser coils behind the fridge, etc (and because I like to take things apart) and was still going after the evaporator but stopped when I wasnt sure how the back freezer compartment cover came off-this was to see if the evaporator was frozen. No screws and drawings on parts websites shows that it appears to be clipped in. No where to grab so started using angled pick through the vents to try an pop off. Got the 4 corners free but middle was stubborn and broke a small vent piece (no biggie there). Didnt want to break anything more before warranty was up so decided to stop there and put back together

I did get the ice block off the rear cover, but cant be sure there isnt more behind the cover. I do think the ice was blocking the vents so that might help things, but it shouldt have happened and still needs to be looked at.

Checked coils on bottom or back of unit for dog/cat hair or dust/dirt?

yup. Those were dirty, now clean. Also the drip pan was dry until it was unplugged for 3 hours-so something internal was melting.

Its all back together and plugged in and seeing what the temps are tomorrow after running overnight.

Overall I wanted an incident on the books before warranty expires in 9 days. If cleaning everything today fixes it, great. If not its documented.

Interesting, I just had a different but also ice build up in mine. I hope you can get it going again. Interested though, my coils are concealed and the drip pan is actually molded into the base of the unit.

49 F and raining here. wife goes out to the car and back. Now complaining of being cold and damp and wanting me to light up the stove. "But it is 75 F and 37 humidity in here" I said. I asked her why not change her shirt. "Oh it will dry, besides, once you go to bed I'm turning the stove on". I head for the bathroom. When I return, the fire is burning. No longer down to 75F.

Well as of this morning, the fridge temps are no different. Set as low as 33 but actual temp is upper 40's. I checked the reviews on the service company and those are not promising at all. Hopefully I am just seeing the bad stuff and the company isnt as bad as that.

My honey went thru bad service with a Lowes service company on a dishwasher-Lowes eventually just refunded the purchase price. My warranty has the same clause.

As I mentioned my warranty runs out 5/27 and guess what? Lowes just sent me an option for an additional year for about 200 bucks. Seeing this fridge was a higher end one :makeitrain", I may extend it to be safe. If the unit craps out, I get a full purchase price credit at Lowes :emptywallet:

Boy does that sound familiar-my honey and I are at least 10-12 degrees apart for what we consider "comfortable". I took the dog and her truck to the store last night and found that she had the heat on in the truck...and she was saying "its freezing" in the house when I am comfortably wearing a t shirt.

I sidestepped that by picking up a few calzones from the General Store. Steak Bomb and Chicken Parm.

Small, local store but he makes great pizza so figured we would try his calzones. They were messy due to the fillings but man were they good :beerbbq:

If temps are the same as before, I wouldn't have high hopes. I'd be hoping that they would just refund the purchase price BEFORE you spend the extra $200. Then, you'd only get back the purchase price minus $200.
If it was me, I'd have the service co. out there ASAP before the original warranty expires.....then it's on record as a problem.
