Power went out last night at 11:30. Not looking to be back on until 12isham.

Champion genny is doing just fine. Had it going through the ups but every time the sump pump kicked on (which is every 30seconds) it would quickly switch to battery for a split second. Got sick of hearing it

I love the snip tool and use it a lot at work. Great for taking snips of relevant email passages and sending them to people when they ask the same question for the 17th time (or say they were never told something. Sure, I could attach the relevant email but no one ever opens them - or if the relevant part is too far down so they never scroll that far. Guess I'm more an "in your face" blunt speaking person :D

We got maybe 8" total. Hard to tell as the wind blew a lot of it around. No issues traveling in to work. Roads were much better than expected.

Got to call the tree service this AM. Got a big ol pine tree that we told them(management) years ago to cut down. Well its now a crossed the side parking lot.... Luckily the shop closed early and no up front peeps were parked there!!

Edit: Had the snow guy push it aside so we could get the upfront offices open......... There lucky it wasn't the big one to the left of it. It would hit the building!!

Had maybe 2" when I went to bed last night and this morning about a foot and still going. Havnt left for work or even cleared any of the driveway yet as the roads are so bad. I have told workers to not even attempt to get in until 9-10 and even then to make decisions as needed. I am told we have about 18" at work and as of 7:30 it still was not plowed out.

Suppose to keep going until 5-6Pm tonght so if I go in, it will be a quick swipe to get out and plan on a full cleanup tonight.

Lost power twice this morning for a few minutes-hoping it stays on. The white chit here is not weighing down trees yet so if we lose power its likely due to someone hitting a pole and knowcking out a transformer...........

    Don't...
I bought a used one in 1972... for 35 bucks.
Sold it several years ago for a bigger "better" John Deere.
    I don't think so!

probably got 14" of heavy wet snow with 2 inches of pure slush on the bottom. snowblower got a serious workout, as did the operator! had to tip it up once to clear the slush, but mostly just did 1/2 passes and listened for the belt to slip. note to self, get a spare belt and see what the adjustment set-up is.

please join me for a moment of silence for the hundreds of MAILBOXES that gave their lives during this storm. I'm sure the plow guys just enjoy the thrill of the hunt (and kill!) :rofl:

why don't more people on main roads put up plywood protectors like their neighbors?:loco: :loco:

got about 12-14" of heavy wet snow here. All the trees in the area are bowed over. Had to saw off some that were across the driveway but buried in snow to start snowblowing the driveway. End of driveway was 4 feet high and over 3 feet wide from the town plow. Had to shovel parts of it down so the snowblower could get through it. Only 1/3rd done, (driveway about 110ft long ) taking a break then back out.

Comcast cable to house got pulled off trim up on side of house but is still connected, looks like a big branch pulled it down between the street and our house where it goes through a wooded patch. Was going to go up the ladder to do a temp hook screw & zip tie fix but wife says with what we pay Comcast, they can come fix it. She just doesn't want to dig me out of the snowbank when I fall off the ladder.

Got about a foot of really heavy snow.

    Snowblower.jpg

After more than an hour, and 1 tank of gas, I had gotten the main driveway, to the mailbox, and most of the path to the tent garage done

Then after I was finished with everything I thought I was done. Went to go put birdseed out and was greeted with this. If it ain't the town plow coming by when I think I'm done, it is the roof dumpage :picard:

Just lost my remote connection to work - oh darn :D. Well, I hope my computer saved the email I was working on, but no big deal if it bites the dust. Everything else had just been saved. Wonder if that means they lost power at work or if it was just an issue with the server or the company's internet service provider.

Guess I got time for a shower after all the snow blowing and shoveling this morning. Then I can do with some lunch :stirpot::beerbbq:

Just got finished with my last task.....roof raking. Got it cleaned back about 2 1/2' from the edge. Temp is right at 41*, so trees are slowly dumping, roads are clear, I already hear water dripping down the downspouts.

Time for an early beverage and Tylenol.

I don't do much snow removal anymore. But the forms of mailbox protection I know of aren't exactly legal but they are highly effective and can only be setup when you can work the soil.

Because my mailbox is in the "plow to zone" for the city plows. I live at a T and they plow towards the culvert from 2 directions of the 3. Postmaster requires that I place it there - I tried moving it up the road about 10', but then I got a "no mail will be delivered until you move it back" notice. Moving it apparently screws with their route. I have not yet lost the mailbox/post to city plows but at the same time it makes for a massive effort to clear the multiple berms to get it clear for mail to be delivered. If I tried to put up a "protector", the town boys would see it as a challenge to make my snow removal chore even more immense.
