Let's say we're supposed to , but I've let mine go for a few days , which makes the Harman speed bump get bigger and a little more effort to clean .

2 weeks is more like it for me. Just no benefit from doing it. That speed bump is just a crusted corner that doesn't amount to anything. I run on stat so it gets hot enough to keep most problems away. I have to let it cool down so I can brush off the inside. Keep the vac running while doing this to keep the dust down. That stove is so simple to keep clean and running well.

The 802's are making more of a speed bump and carbon buildup than other pellets but I agree, it doesn't bother anything.

Mine appears to work on a different premise. Pellets drop into a removable steel burnport that has air holes. They dance around and burn until the air blowing through ejects them out when they're tiny little bits of nothing to smolder and die out as ash. It gets a pass with the bottle brush every two weeks during the regular cleaning.

I never open the door unless it's to perform an actual cleaning.

I also turn on the stove when I clean it with the door open all that runs is the combustion blower which also keeps the ash / dust down .

I think for most scraping the pot is more of a personal preference then need.I know on my stove I have had the entire bottom of the burn pot caked shut but with the RDS system it compensates for it by increasing the exhaust blower speed so there is no loss in burn quality.

There is a secret menu that you can access. It's supposed to be for dealers only but it was discussed on the other forum. If you would like the link you could pm me.I don't want to post it in case this info is top secret or something.

I dont know what that menu gives access to, but make dam sure you know what you are changing. Todays MFP copiers have tech menus too and you can really screw thing up in there if you dont know what you are doing.

That being said, that tech menu on the stove would be the first think I would look into as well!! Just be careful in there

I'm not sure what all is in that menu but I know you can adjust feed and blower rates in there which is all I would be interested in doing.

Some of the more useful things you can change in this menu:
    - Ignition charge time
    - Combustion fan low and high limits
    - Power failure options
    - Temp sensor calibration
    - Whisper mode adjustment

Sounds fairly harmless. LW would know better about that.

Dont get me wrong, I will get into whatever menus I can but I have learned my lessons in the past.......

Way back when, I had a non progressive scan TV and progressive scan DVD player. Of course I changed the setting to turn on Progressive scan on the player to see what it did. Well it scrambled everything and I could no longer see the menu on the player to change it back. Then I noticed if I turned off the TV and turned it back on I got a millisecond of being able to see the menu. I had to turn the TV off and on about 15 times to follow the correct pact and change the setting back

Not sure why this is in a secret menu now , with both of my Harman's I can do that with the turn of a dial

Very true and doesnt make sense that these settings are hidden. If I am going to be gone for a day or two, the blower gets turned way down in stove temp mode (turned down low there too) and I can get almost 2 days of burn from the hopper and keep the house at a reasonable temp. If the blower was set higher, it tends to go through the pellets quicker.

Cleaned the pellet eater and went out and spread some sand/salt in the roadway, driveway and walk ways. Chopped at some ice that had a jam and was filling up my side yard. Made a lil channel for it to sneak out or I'd get puddles in the basement!

Finally finished up the PC turmoil chit. Still have some drives to transfer and sort. Just to grumpy to do it now!! Watched the cup qualifying while tinkering and swapping out the loud Intel CPU fan on Joeys gamer rig. New Zalman freazer is whisper quite and will allow overclocking of his new i7 3.6 GHZ cpu! Good to see the youngster get the pole!! Snoozed during the clash and had to go search to see BK won it.

Going back out to spread some more sand/salt now the rain has finally stopped. I bet it freezes if I don't and will be slick in the AM.......
