Already had 3 rounds of thunderstorms roll through since 6:00 PM. Hopefully we're done for today.

Thunder and lighting here now. Getting some much needed rain. Should put an end to our dry spell. Several days of rain and showers seem to be lined up. My sick brother in Florida is worried about the pending hurricane heading his way. Don't know why he doesn't just get in his van and drive north before the storm hits. Would be a lot better than having a roof fall in or have to be rescued by a boat. All those snakes will be trying to find high ground in those houses.

Just got done with 3 hours of back & forth phone conversations with my ex and my older daughter.....both are in Fla.
Daughter is in St. Pete, which may well get hit directly by the looks of the latest models. I convinced them both to start driving (together) after my daughter gets out of work tomorrow. My ex wanted to wait til early Thurs morning, but I put my foot down and no, you get out wed. night.....period.

Got them hotel room up in northern Georgia for about 5 days.

In Maine no wild bird or animal parts can be so "picked up" unless you legally took the wild critter.

Most of the bad storms have stayed north of us.

Weathers been scorching hot here for a while, and with a lot of fires burning the smoke has been nasty.

Been out trying to get my deck rebuild finished and it has been miserable.

Coughing and hacking a lot in this smoke.

Cooler and wetter weather coming, but T storms possible and with them comes more fires considering how dry it is...

    Long dry spell for sure.

Big fire up in the Columbia Gorge that is dropping ash even here near Newberg.

Wind reversal came early today and will clear the smoke a bunch.

Would love to see some serious rain for a couple days to wet the ground and clean the air out.

Deck job is about done (for this season)

Still a bit of stuff to get done yet.

The corner trim boards (White) need replacing after I cut them to get the flashing in.

The east end decking is finished, as are the scattering of new cedar on the south side where things join.

Still have a few new boards to get in place on the south side, but no hurry here.

I have seven 12 footers to swap out as I get time.

Next year will get after things far earlier in the season and not be fooling around in the HEAT

Today is gonna be clean up day.

Pack off all the lumber used as temporary decking while replacing the bad beam, then police up all the tools etc.

Save the materials for future things.

I am pleased with the results, but had the job been done right originally this task might have been easier.

Being last in getting out means you have further to go to clear the crowds.

    Happy Birthday Corkman!

Heading out next week to get this years pellets. It means a two hundred mile trek, but I'm tired of burning rubbish pellets. I wish some of them were offered locally.
