Turned on stove again last night. 38* was the low this morning. Have almost run out the little bit of pellets left in the hopper from last year. May see if there are more old pellets in the basement stove's hopper and put them in the P43 before I start opening bags.

Not so fast on the done it right. The lot is not good for much in the way of fruit trees we lost one of our apple trees and almost lost both of them. Have problems with them wanting to tip over due to the soil conditions and we won't even mention the fact peaches are iffy in Maine. I don't have a clue about the plum tree, as the nursery we got it from doesn't carry them anymore. The expensive trees are the ones we have had the most trouble with the cheapo Wall mart end of season ones have been no trouble at all. The boss made a mistoke on the pears and as a result we have an overage in that area and one full sized tree to go with our dwarf trees.

One other thing I dug up enough 60 lb plus boulders to last many lifetimes. I tried to plant a row of cedars and I could only roll one stone out of the way, I estimate it is over 300 lbs I couldn't get that one out of the hole. Got me an extra large pry bar. Ah for the tools of ignorance. Got a full supply of them.

37 degrees here this morning. After it warmed up a bit, we had perfect weather today, cool and sunny all day. Did a load of yard work and cleaned the flue pipe as well.

Going back thru pictures to find my earliest serious burn time of the season (which is this year on 8-31-17), I found a picture from May 2014. It is hard to see progress when it is slow, but this just made me feel good about what I can accomplish.

May 2014: The used Englander that lasted a whole month (that fall - not hooked up in this picture). I had torn out walls to find there was an 8-9" gap from the plywood to the ceiling so I scabbed in custom cut pieces, caulked, insulated. Then I waited for new windows to be installed, late July of 2014, before I installed vapor barrier, sheetrock and painted. The Englander stove was installed September of that year (the St. Croix was installed in November of that year).

    unfinished LR wall from 5-2014.jpg

Now (picture taken a few moments ago) on my 3rd main floor stove (St. Croix was great but hopper not big enough and the P43 works much better in that space). Last winter I finally trimmed out the window and put up blind. I then decided to take out the table and put in coat area. Yeah, the FHW system is still an eyesore but otherwise this section is finished.
