I think that will work out wonderfully slvrblkk. Keep us updated if you don't mind. I'd rather roll with sheets of that stuff than pay outrageous prices for "gaskets"

I'd really like to use this technique. If anyone or all of you are willing to collaborate it would be awesome under the resources tab here too. Any takers?

I've seen the reference to the leaf blower trick and have yet how to do it correctly. Much less disconnect the vacuum tube etc.

I'll post a vid of the whole process when I do my first one, although the location of the vacuum switch will vary from stove to stove. I need to do it on a customers stove first though because I just did a deep clean on mine a week ago.

It runs so nice now! I feel like an ASE mechanic that drives an 84 Buick with a bad knock, I let it go too long even though I give my customers a hard time for not cleaning enough lol. The twist is, I don't pay myself $189 to clean the stove either.

I tried to buy the gasket at one stove dealer near me, not where I bought my stove. I asked for the gasket and the guy said $30 Lmfao I didn't say a word and just walked out. Cost me $7 normally. That silicone stuff should save me a few bucks :dancer:

I know that if you have a lot of free time you can use Vaseline on both mating surfaces, apply a thin bead of high temp silicone (nice and even mind you) to the blower, then slightly tighten it and let it cure for 48 hours. After fully cured and dried pull it apart, take off your gasket then wipe off all excess Vaseline and re-install and it will last for quite some time.

The Vaseline keeps the silicone from bonding with the mating surfaces while it cures. Who has time for that though? lol

I bought some 1/8" ones pre cut from Brunners because I knew that the two year old one would not stand another removal. The new ones are quite rugged and should last through several blower removals.

You may be able to get a Quad silicone one that will fit and last a long while as well.

I have already replaced the one that was on the convection blower with a silicone one I cut from some sheet purchased on Amazon.

Agreed, I think you could buy them and trim to fit and they will last, I know this first hand. I've re-used so many of them it's almost wrong. You just have to make sure the factory cut hole isn't too large for your combustion blower.

No problem. It is simple. First do all your normal blower removal, ash trap opening, brush and scraping work , firebox thumping (not on cast please or you'll have a mess of broken metal), and vacuuming.

Then you attach the vacuum end of your leaf blower to the termination (less the termination cap) of the vent outside the house and with the stove door cracked or open turn the leaf blower on.

Now you can hunt for the vacuum switch and tubing if you wish but I have never bothered, I just leave the door on the stove open.

My feeling on the super duper sensitive vacuum switch situation is that if it can't stand a bit of extra pulling it isn't worth the price you paid for it.

I used to get my gaskets from Brunner's too, they are the next town over from me but he's been out of stock on the 1/8" bulk sheets for a while now and looks to be out of a lot of other things he used to always have in stock.

I got the pre-cut because I wasn't in the mood to do fine work back in August when I was busy with the deep clean and such, so I ordered several, you can also order them from Breckwell, and likely Eric from Kinsman Stove would also be a source.

ETA: He currently appears to have 1/4 " bulk.
