Yesterday was so humid it was a 3 shower day; morning shower, then I mowed before and after insurance adjuster was here so was nice and took a shower before heading to work. Got home around 6 and started working on the mess of tree detritus until dark - took a shower after that. A few pics for those that haven't seen the thread I started over on the wood hoarders side of the forum; Before and afters:

This has been my excitement lately. New septic system and drainfield. Figured I'd make the best of it last night and torch some old beat up pallets, drink a few beers and stare at what used to be my lawn. :drunk:

damm... looks like i officially made GEEZER status! :loco:  :picard:62... now i can get my $10 lifetime national park pass! in six months i could (but i won't) get SS - now that is a scary thought!

Grandson Landon was over for Thursday and Friday nights. he can cruise the coffee table and motivate the walker easily at 10 months. we have to watch him more closely now, but what a joy! i got a hat for my birthday that says "#1 Grandpa"!

bogieb, hope you get that tree removed this weekend!

Local collage until he can figure out what path he wants to venture. Not sure at 17, he's ready to adult yet. Not gonna push him just yet. Let him have this summer to find his way and enjoy it. We'll let him get a semester under his belt before we push the work detail on him unless something neat falls in his lap.

I was rushed out of child hood and didn't get to enjoy my youth. I can't do that to him. Life has its way of finding you with out the parent pushy shovey chit!! He do fine and make us proud. ;)

    Thanks Pete!

We'd be celebrating(fishin) But the pop up storm changed our plans. Putts around the shack today and fish tomorrow. Supposed to be less humid too. Taking monday off to enjoy his first day of summer.

Was wondering why you would wait. If it's because you'll get more at "full" retirement age, you might want to re-think that. I calculated how long it takes for "full" SS benefits to catch-up to the amount you would have received if you start early. It takes 11 YEARS for the "full" to catch-up. SS Dept. doesn't want people to think about that. I took it early.

I was rushed also. I was very happy to leave home. I was buying my own clothes when I was 14. I'm 70, thing were much different back when I was young. Looking back, I think I would have been better off if I had more experiences as a kid, but work and school was all there was for me then. Now retired with enough to live on so now I get to enjoy some of the things I missed.

Hopefully the "local" college (State college system?) allows you to transfer credits if he decides to go elsewhere in a year or 2.

I'm looking at 65 due to the insurance chit. Otherwise the earlier the better. I suppose at 62 and a part time job to pay insurances would be fine too.........

Yep, there's always other good reasons to wait, but a part time job gives you some time out of the house. I got the "no-stress" P/T job, and happy I did. Gets me out of the house 3 days/wk.........doesn't pay a huge amount, but still pays quite a few bills.
