Had some BIG boomers go through last night, and about 10 min of torrential rain.

Busy day. I had 10 yards of garden soil with horse manure mixed in delivered and spread for my garden space. It is amazing how little 10 yards covers. I had 5 yards brought in last year. That worked well so I wanted to enlarge the area. I had to buy a 20 ft. culvert to put under the garden so I could keep the area reasonably dry during seasonal rain run offs.

Larry, if you have an external HD laying around, or pickup a 1 TB external USB 3.0 drive for about $50 bucks, you can hook it up to one of the 3.o ports, configure Win10 backup for weekly w/ system image, and have nice backup / recovery solution there.

Congrats on the new system ! Nice specs !

I have a 2 TB back up drive attached! I don't download movies. No idea about what I'll ever do with all that space. Thanks I wanted a system that would be with me for a while. Plus I always back up to "One Drive" That way, if I am out somewhere with only my phone, I can access the cloud and pull down the data I need.

That's cool ! (Pun intended) :D Glad the central A/C is working so well for you there Pete.

Amen IHP - but I didn't have much of a choice in the matter here, else.. :heidi: :pain: :picard:
Went in pretty quick though.. Was really glad I cleaned & oiled the A/C units after I pulled them last fall.

We upgraded to 15Mb DSL last Friday, only costs $1.50 more than we were paying for 7Mb DSL, it was a no-brainer to do.

Of course, it snowed here overnight Sat./early Sun. am, and we had major tree damage as a result. :( I still have to get out the chainsaw for cleanup.

Anyways, DSL has been intermittent / wonky all week, with the Fairpoint folks fixing line damage, etc. I put in a service call, a very nice service tech showed up this morning. Turns out there is an (Interleave) setting at the DSLAM box, that was lowering the line Signal/Noise ratio enough to cause issues. Once turned off, all is good !

The technician also checked / reconnected / re-spliced all connections at the DSLAM, pole, and box on the house: which was very cool of him to do, they hadn't been touched in at least 10 years, probably more.

The extra bandwidth really helps, have been moving forward slowly with our plans to convert to streaming only, going to be greatly reducing the DirecTV satellite plan next month.

It's been busy here - work is busy, busy is good. Still need to finish raking the side of the house, get the tractor mower running, and mow some grass here real-soon-now. And fertilize & Roto-till the garden beds. With Beer.

Hope you all enjoy the weekend, it's IT work here, playing outside next week.

    Cheers!

I can chew up space really fast. I have 10TB spinning with 4 operating systems. I finally got the system off its training wheels. This was the longest amount of time in the last 14 years that Linux wasn't the only operating system on my machine.

It must feel like your Birthday, Christmas, and the 4th of July all wrapped up in one.. getting Win Blows 10 off that system. :D

10 TB is pretty Hardcore, David. .. That's more than a good portion of my SMB clients have on deck.

Well I don't know if it is exactly like rolling those three into one but it is nice not having to use the f11 key or go through virtual box to boot my machine into Linux, I haven't removed *blows yet it is a lot easier keeping it up to date if it is used once in awhile and I have the disc real estate to keep it spinning.

Larry you can also buy a SSD drive and install it. I plan on some changes in that area.

An hour and 40 minutes to mow my lawn - pretty sad for less than 1/3 acre of lawn. About a third of it has not been mowed before since it was way too wet last time. Still had really wet spots but powered thru them, and went over some of it twice. Used both mowers (got the old one fixed); when one ran out of gas I just switched mowers. I've learned the hard way these don't like to start when warm, so I avoided frustration by using both

    Looks much better anyway.
